Beta Test for the New Lodestone (06/19/2013)


This website will undergo the following tests in conjunction with the beta test of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn:

Server stress and functionality.
Data transfer from the old Lodestone.

* The most recent image and personal profile data as of 6 6, 0 will be transferred from the old Lodestone.
* All blog entries, free company forum posts, and article comments created on the new Lodestone will be deleted upon the conclusion of the beta test.
* All images uploaded to the new lodestone will be deleted upon the conclusion of the beta test.
* The new and old Lodestone will operate independently of one another during testing. For example, deleting an image on the old Lodestone will not delete said image on the new Lodestone.

Current Known Issues
Below are the currently known issues for the website.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

Delay in incorporating Character Data
Can’t log in when using a character that is not incorporated.
A character’s race may not have been incorporated properly on certain characters.

Delay in the character’s image that is shown in the character profile.
* Delayed images will show up as silhouettes.
* Images will appear at a later time when the loading process is completed.

Changes that take place within the game takes time to reflect to the site.
Example:
Formed a free company, but unable access the free company page, joined a link shell, but unable to access the link shell page, character information not up to date, etc.

A character’s image may be inconsistent with the actual character.
Site Functionality
The Lodestone is a venue for FINAL FANTASY XIV players to communicate with one another.

Features accessible upon logging in.

Home
View your character's Home page.

Friends
View the activities of users on your character's friend list.

Linkshell
View the activities of users in your character's linkshell.

Free Company
Those who belong to a free company may view the activity of fellow members as well as make use of the free company forums.

Account Management
Adjust the privacy settings of all your character's pages.
Public: Entries can be seen by any user.
Friends Only: Entries can only be seen by friends.
Private: Entries can only be seen by you.

Blog
Create blog entries with your active character.

Following
Follow other characters' blog entries, and view lists of followed and following characters.

File Management
Manage images uploaded to the Lodestone.

Features accessible without logging in.

Character Search
Perform searches for characters.

Linkshell Search
Perform searches for linkshells.

Free Company Search
Perform searches for free companies.

Search
Perform searches for blog entries.

Square Enix added a paper doll and additional information that puts it on par with Blizzard's Armory.

Skill speed reduces the recast on the GDC by 0.01 seconds for every 3 points.

GCD* - Global CoolDown - the time you have to wait between using any two abilities which are on the GCD, nearly all offensive abilities are. 2.5 seconds when unmodified.

Oh, that makes sense then. It seems like lowering the skill speed would be great to do with certain equipment then. It's like a haste for weaponskills and abilities. But then again, I wonder how much of a difference .3 seconds (just chose .3 randomly) could make and if you could actually capitalize on those improvements... Probably better to increase the DoT of meleeing statistics since melee is automatic and doesn't rely on a button push.

It is like haste but at a fraction of the potency. According to testing done so far, it takes +15 skill speed to reduce the GCD by 0.02 seconds, which represents a 0.8% increase in skill output, less than the effect of 1% haste in FFXI. I could still see this being a viable stat at higher levels if stats like STR see diminishing marginal returns, but at least at the levels we're able to observe in beta, the effect is pretty laughable.

I read on the beta forums that someone tested out with their 50 DRG that with over 400 skill speed, it only reduced the GDC by 0.14 seconds - not even 1/4 of a second.

Worthless stat is worthless.

Skill speed on character sheet doesn't make a difference, as I hear it. The number goes up as you gain levels, but the base cool down doesn't change unless you modify it with skills, gear, or food.

And again, these numbers are meaningless without anything to compare them to. Whatever mods that dragoon had resulted in a 6% increase in skill output. How much strength does he need to add to produce a 6% increase in damage? Whatever that number is, that's how much strength is worth trading for the amount of +skill speed he has.

Also keep in mind that GCD skills aren't the only skills affected by skill speed. Skills with long cooldowns like Fight or Flight, Bloodbath, and Keen Flurry should also be affected, which will provide other efficiencies, some of which can't be modified by other stats.

Haven't been able to confirm that but from what I can tell skill speed strictly affects weaponskills.

I've found your primary stat + Determination to be far more effective at increasing your combat ability.

Determination is a better comparison, since it's not like there are any items with skill speed and no strength. Between the 4th stat options, it's between determination, skill speed, and critical chance.
