Re: Not Seeing My Saved Character Data ...

There is no option for starting cities. It depends on your class.

Re: Not Seeing My Saved Character Data ...

Your starting city is determined by your class, and sadly MRD is the only one with a guild in LL (Arcanist isn't in beta).

I'm thinking of rolling a few new characters as PUG and ARC, just to see if the other 2 cities work - so that I'll know it really is just LL. But others are reporting similar issues such as black screens etc.

        /facepalm

OMG I can't believe I have forgotten all about that! Okay, I really want to see LL, so I'm going to re-roll a Marauder. An IRL friend got ahead of me (somehow) and rolled on Bahamut and wants me to go play there. A couple of others have also said they'd rather roll on JP servers for better play times (activity) at release.

I rolled on Cactuar, but I still plan to transfer to Excalibur when able, and I am hopefully bringing some friends with me.

Re: Not Seeing My Saved Character Data ...

According to the latest SE news over on the beta forums, the New Lodestone rollout has been delayed due to issues with character data. Which might spell delays for the 1.0 data rollout that was scheduled for this week's testing. SE being able to make that August 27 deadline is looking a bit shaky at this point. We'll see.

We were originally planning to release The Lodestone (Beta Version) today, but the process of implementing the information that of the Character that was made in the game is having trouble, and we have decided to delay the release to a later date.

            Estimated release date: Jun. 16, 2013 8:00 p.m. (PDT)

・The Character Image that is supposed to be displayed on the Character's Profile is not catching up.
            * For the Characters that are not catching up, a silhouette image will be displayed. However, this process will be eliminated little by little as time goes by.

This may be inconvenient for some of our users, but we hope everyone will wait until it is fully resolved.
We had rescheduled the release of The Lodestone (Beta Version) for 8:00 p.m. today, but the process for importing character data into The Lodestone has yet to be completed. Therefore, we have decided to postpone the release once more. We will announce the date and time as soon as it if confirmed.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this postponement and thank you for your understanding.
It states that it's a display issue, but from another earlier post, it seems that there was data transfer issue, and the display issue is a symptom of that (synching?) issue. However, this is only concerning new data, and I must imagine 1.0 data would be similarly affected. If that being the case, then we don't even know whether or not 1.0 data is even being implemented into the servers, so I'll be holding my breath until I see some confirmation. If my data gets screwed up, oh man, makes me sick thinking about it ...

Re: Not Seeing My Saved Character Data ...

At this point, I wouldn't really care if my 1.0 data got deleted. I know others would, but if it happens to me... meh. There was so little content in 1.0 that it really only took one afternoon to get a full AF set. I can't imagine it being much harder in 2.0. Especially considering leveling is a total breeze.

Still, only reason why I want my 1.0 data is for the Goobbue mount. <_<

Re: Not Seeing My Saved Character Data ...

Leveling is not a "total breeze" - it goes by fast for your first class, and maybe the 2nd - but what about when you get to the 5th or 6th? Quests dry up eventually.

Nevermind all the horrendous hours I spent crafting, and all my achievements. Nah, not I'm gonna be some pissed if all that goes poof.

After maxing out all combat classes, miner, botanist, carpenter, weaver, blacksmith, and armorer, I'd be extremely pissed if all of that hard work gets lost...

Re: Not Seeing My Saved Character Data ...

I wouldn't care either way since:
                        1. The game would get very boring very quickly if I started with everything at Lv50 with hardly any endgame content.
                        2. They're going to be adding more jobs anyway, so if there really is a limited number of quests, I might end up just holding out for Thief or Ninja to be confirmed since they are the class types I have most fun with in MMOs.
                        3. Crafting and gathering in 1.0 was a terrible piece of shit so I didn't have a single Crafting/Gathering class above Lv10 so that gives me something to do and level up.
                        4. It would be nice to see the ARR storyline from 1-50 anyway.

I think if anyone has the right to be pissed, it would be Dux, but if SE loads him up with Vicadin, then they'll win a spokesperson yet!

Heads up, seems that they're opening character transfers this beta weekend.

Beta Test Phase 3 Schedule (06/18/2013)
Thank you for your participation in the beta test for FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.

The testing schedule is detailed below.

                              Dates and Times

                              June 21, 2013 (Friday), 9:00 a.m. to June 23, 2013 (Sunday), 9:00 a.m. (GMT)

                              Testing Requests
Transferring character data from Version 1.0
                              * Please see below for further details.

Basic functions of the PlayStation 3 version
Check for server stress due to battle system revisions
Verify changes based on all feedback up to beta test phase 2
In the event that testers are asked to test additional content, separate notifications will be sent.
Starting with Test 2, we will begin testing the transfer of Version 1.0 character data to FFXIV: ARR. After logging in, clicking World Selection at the character selection screen will now display a list of Worlds including Legacy Worlds. Selecting a World with Version 1.0 character data will display any characters available on said World.

Please try selecting your 1.0 characters and confirm your character data has been transferred correctly.

Please note that due to a number of system changes, certain items can no longer be used or their attributes may have changed. Also, the methods for obtaining certain items and unlocking certain features may have also changed. Please review the following topics for more details on these changes:
Transferring Character Data to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn
Changes to Existing Items and the Monetary System in FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn
Should you encounter an issue with character transfer, please send a report through the support center.
                              * A URL will be posted at a later time.
EDIT: Just to clarify, this is only for beta testing purposes; they haven't opened applications for transferring to different servers for retail/phase 4 yet.

I'm confused ... do they mean that we can test on our 1.0 characters but only on those legacy servers, or that we're able to actually transfer said characters to the other servers? Cause, man, I would have to hate having to beta test on the "EU" targetted server if in fact it's in the EU territories and I have to go slay (translation: get my ass stomped on) the latency monster ...

I'll go read the forums later tonight after I am done with work. /evilmonkeyfingerpointingfirewall
