Re: XIV ARR Collector's Edition topic. news, info, content, rumors, official

I'm gonna skip the PS3 version entirely.

Partly because my HDD just doesn't have enough space left and there's no way to make room that won't suck, but also because I'd rather wait and see if a PS4 version comes along.

Have to have a PC CD, too. Probably a Sony requirement because of PS3.

Nice to see so many going the PS3 route. Just goes to show how much of a crowd it will draw in; more the merrier!

Not sure how you mean, but this is the scenario:

          1. PS3 Normal/CE you register through your PSN account, however, the actual in-game digital items MUST be registered through your SE account (including pre-order codes)

You will only be able to register one copy of FFXIV: A Realm Reborn for PlayStation 3 to a Sony Entertainment Network account. It is not possible to register or play two or more copies of the PS3 version on the same account even if you purchase additional software. Please note that only one Sony Entertainment Network account can be linked to a Square Enix Account.
          2. If you're a Legacy player, you will be able to d/l the game client (or update your beta client) ahead of the release date.

Players who have fulfilled the requirements of the Legacy Campaign will be able to take part in early access and play before the official start of service.
          3. Regardless, if you're a 1.0 CE player, you'll get your digital items.

Players who own the FFXIV version 1.0 Collector’s Edition will receive the FFXIV: ARR Collector’s Edition in-game bonus items (Helm of Light, Baby Behemoth Minion, Behemoth Barding, and Coeurl Mount) for free. The in-game bonus items will be delivered via Moogle Letter when FFXIV: ARR launches.
ALL existing players will receive the PC game for FREE. Only those existing players who want to play the game on their PS3 or new players (both PC and PS3) are required to purchase a copy of the game.

Players who own FFXIV version 1.0 will not need to purchase the PC version of FFXIV: ARR and will be able to download the FFXIV: ARR software for free.

Re: XIV ARR Collector's Edition topic. news, info, content, rumors, official

Wait wait wait. Forgive mem, because my mind is really blurred from RL things and it being 6:00am. Am I reading this right? I already own the 1.0 CE and have a character leveled to 50 on a number of jobs and crafts. I also have the 2.0 CE preordered for PC. Are you saying that the only things I get for the $83.00 price tag are the digital items and the physical box and stuff? The way im reading what you're saying is that the CD keys and registration keys will not combine to my existing account. So essentially I'll have a set of keys I can just give someone if I wanted to? I could also just cancel my 2.0 preorder all together because I can simply update the existing client I have for the beta to get everything except for the bonus digital stuff that comes with 2.0's preorder?

Because I'll say this... the digital thing are neat... but ultimately... a helmet, some follow-me creature and a few pieces of equipment that will be obsolete right from the get go are not worth $83 real life munnies to me. If what I've said is correct, my pre-order is cancelled faster than you can say "bippidy boppidy bullshit".

              Yes @ Yyg.

Only items you won't be getting are the pre-order items. But, since you have a 1.0 CE, you'll get the 2.0 CE items for free.

You're already getting the digital items, all of us original CE folk get them automatically. The only thing you're paying for is basically a new account and the physical bonus items (and the pre-order stuff) which is why I'm not ordering it as much as I absolutely love that box art.

I got too many expenses atm and really can't swing for it.

@Yyg If you have a PS3 and still want the finer things from the 2.0CE (namely the art, music, etc), then swing for the PS3 CE. Otherwise, as an existing FFXIV account holder, you'll get the free ARR update/download. As an existing 1.0 CE account holder, you're getting the ARR CE digital items. And as a Legacy account holder, you'll be getting a reduced subscription (for life if I read it correctly) and early access.

                    http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=SQEX-20012

It said there's additional in-game digital items to be secured from this avenue but I hesitate because I'm not sure if those keys will be viewed as valid when entering it from an NA account (as opposed to a JP account) I know this is a problem because as a Squeenix Member, I couldn't register any of my imported SQ items for points. :/

It remains to be seen what kind of soundtrack will be included in the CE, but if history is any reliable indicator, then more than likely it'll be one of those evaluation compilations (As an example, what Blizzard packages with their CE generally amounts to just a sampling of what went into making their expansions) Full soundtracks for SE games tend to run at least 3 to 4 discs and this one will be put into Blu-Ray instead (for the highest digital fidelity, I'm assuming) In addition to Uematsu, there will be four other well known music directors working on the scores and compositions for the sounds and music being used in ARR, which they promised to be a huge undertaking. That could mean enough material to fill 6 or even 7 CDs.

I'll wait before pre-ordering this, assuming there's any left to pre-order for, until I get additional information and whether or not a CE of this will be released. I have pretty much all of the CE versions of FF soundtracks (where available) going back to FFVI.

You mean the Before Meteor OST?

It's pretty nice and I want it, but $50? Nuh uh.

                            Blacksmith
It is in the fires and on the anvils of blacksmiths that weapons and tools of metal are crafted. Their work is in demand far and wide, whether it be hammering the blade of a sword at the forge, or whetting the edge of an axe at camp.
Limsa Lominsa has been renowned for its blacksmithing tradition since antiquity, though the advanced metallurgical techniques passed on today bear little resemblance to the simple practices of ancient times. The relatively recent birth of firearms has created an entirely new area of expertise which is being adopted with fervor by many ambitious smiths. Hmmmmmmm...

Not to mention 1 of the weapon shops back in 1.0 had a bunch of gun racks on the wall XD

Plus Merlwyb was just so badass with her twin sawed-off shotguns. The only question is, will it be gunmage from X-2 or maybe Machinist as the job? They could always bring back COR as well but... idk, COR seemed like a better fit for XI given the way XI handles multiple abilities.
