i saved it to my desktop and was able to get the client installed by saying i didnt want the file to be blocked by windows. That being said, my update download keeps timing out and i havent been able to finish it yet...

Windows 8 is not the problem, as I am running Win8pro with no problems on beta, and really people need to get off the Windows 8 hate train, it is rather stupid. Win8 is more stable and runs faster using less resources then windows 7 does, and I have had no problems with it. Getting used to the new "start menu" is about the only thing, and I got the hang of it in a day or so.

I didn't say anything bad about Win 8 Kailea. All I said was that I didn't see it being a supported client (in other words, if you have issues, SE may ignore your issues if you're not using the recommended system) I could be wrong, but I didn't see it over on the forums.

sorry Aeni, the first little bit of that post was just saying that Win8 would not be the source of the problem, as it runs fine on mine an my otjher Win8 users machines, the rest of the post was meant for the two who posted before you ;p

So the update keeps timing out on when I try and run it for the first time. Any ideas on what to do?

You may actually have to wait until Saturday night when the next testing schedule starts. Or reinstall I don't know, as I had no problems updating it the night before it went live so...

yeah, not sure what to tell you, there should be nothing messing that up, unless it is some odd defect on your PC specifically -.-

Yeah, now when the update starts, it says 1 minute to complete update, then a error message pops up saying there was an error updaing ffxiv, and to restart the program. I restart it, even restart my PC, and the exact same thing happens. This is so fucking frustrating...

Try to delete the final fantasy xiv folder inside my documents/my games/ and retry.

Does FFXIV:ARR still use torrent files? If it does, you can just pull it up in the torrent program of you choice and toss the complete file into the proper folder and gg.
