Windows 8 is not on the list of compatible OS for the beta client (and possibly for the final release, not sure) If you're having problems, Mez, go submit it as a bug report on the forums.

I tried to create a character on Adamantoise and got rear-ended by the server upon the confirmation process (which is a bug, I swear, because in Alpha you had one more button to push and there is none now in Beta)

For now, stuck on Coeurl, with a lot of terribad piling on in the chat. That and trying to do anything is nearly impossible (even getting to 10 on any of the 3 forced class choices in order to switch to a crafting class) with so many people, the server lag and what have you. The worst is when FATE comes up and omg I swear it's like FFXI Dynamis all over again.

I think you mean besieged lol? I never had lag issues with Dyna.


Actually, XI never lagged much for me period save for the odd time my connection crapped out. Mobs in besieged did take forever to load though (which as I found out was a matter of how PCs render/process mobs vs the PS2 which for some reason was more efficient at loading NPCs and Players).


AFAIK the beta is still down ? They haven't posted the next testing schedule (also might wanna watch any critiques of the game - you never know who's watching >_< )

Windows 8 is not the problem, as I am running Win8pro with no problems on beta, and really people need to get off the Windows 8 hate train, it is rather stupid. Win8 is more stable and runs faster using less resources then windows 7 does, and I have had no problems with it. Getting used to the new "start menu" is about the only thing, and I got the hang of it in a day or so.

It's called shoddy porting (possibly) and only being able to display so many characters on screen at a time. I remember being in besieges with over 700 people in the area, not to mention the 200+ monsters. Even in a lag-free environment I'm pretty sure there'd still be severe processing limits.

Windows 7 broke games that worked on XP. Windows XP broke games that worked on 98. I don't see why it should come as any surprise that stuff breaks on Windows 8 that works fine on Windows 7, especially considering the OS is relatively new.

I'm Dak Attack on Adamantoise, but I haven't had any time to play. I don't know what server I'll be on at release.
