So I don't have a right to be mad about a service that I paid for and supported, and got robbed of in the end because of BS on their end? Looking it over, the event itself seemed to be rather lame but I (and apparently many, many others on the forums) did still want to hang out for 1 last time with my LS buddies and watch the world end together

What I got from that was Eorzea bit the big one and Bahamut had a nice grilled Eorzean sandwich that day. Old man sent some young adventurers and guy who is obviously Cid( aduh, gotta save Cid) back in time to prevent this tragic even from ever taking place.

I did like that futile callback to FFIV, everyone praying and the old man channeling it to seal Bahamut, only to fail because it was FFXIV and apparently deserved to die.

Would have been more awesome if it had been like this.

Mal, last I checked, everyone wanted Tanaka's creation to DIAF ASAP and were ready to play Yoshi-P's game. I'm pretty sure, on the scale of 1 to 10, the actual in-game event would rank 1 on everyone's "to do" list. And I wasn't surprised it happened the way it did. It's still Tanaka's creation. lol

Not for what you might think. While the game was bandaged under Yoshi-P's supervision, let's not forget, lots of lags and technical issues COULD NOT BE SQUARED AWAY (no pun intended) cause the underlying structure was completely shit. Complete and utter shit that shouldn't have seen the light of day (Only cause a couple of my programming friends went to the trouble of getting a hold of some nefarious "bot" proggies to see what they were targetting) You got a big problem in a game where the server crashes because someone did something as insignicant as craft in a (supposed) empty ward.

I'm going to enjoy this game, the new HD graphics are awesome, I prefer to play on console, so I'll wait. I am glad they're downing the graphics so an i5 Computer can run it. I will pick up an i5 at probably a pawn shop or something for about 700 or so. Best thing, no taxes in pawn shops. Straight CAAAAASH! I don't plan to take any prisoners on XIV. There's going to be that one fanboy/fangirl from XIV who is going to get on XIV, shit talk it and then I will sit and laugh at them. Oh this is going to be better than running sand paper over nails.

J9 and Etra, how I ever expressed how much I ADORE the both of you? I don't think I have lately. From me to you guys and everything in between.

It's actually very interesting they are still planning on adding Magitek Armor mounts, even though they won't be used for combat, using them in a snowy area (or anywhere) would bring profound feelings. I wonder how Couerl mounts ended up getting mount development priorities over THIS

The trailer looks awesome but I still need a new PC if I want to play this game and well ... no.

Ok 2 things:

1) For the millionth time now, wait for the new Benchmarks. The new engine they have for ARR is much more efficient, and less demanding on existing specs. My 5+ year old PoS that runs the game on default settings will likely be able to run ARR on high (but not max) settings comfortably.

2) The PS3 version comes out at the same time as PC this time around, so that's an option.

Not entirely sure I want to play two MMOs anyway, I am perfectly happy playing WoW in my limited free time and while XIV looks pretty, I don't trust it to be any good after everything that's happened. To spend actual money on upgrading my computer because I'm still sure that my minimum-end laptop won't run it - it wouldn't run D3 - and for the game itself when I'm about 95% sure I won't like it would be a total waste of resources I really don't have.

That's not really the right way to put it - it sounds like you're saying they're reducing the graphic quality.

That's not the case. They've gone and built up a unique engine specific for XIV this time that's much more efficient.
