Phase 1 of the alpha is only open to players in Japan, so not me.

Of course, leave it to J9 to leave out important information.

Furthermore, because the Alpha Test is commencing first in the Japanese region, at this time e-mails are being sent only to players who reside in Japan. When testing for the other regions are ready to commence, notifications will be sent to players accordingly.

Partly right.

Game data carry over from no later than October 31, 2012. So if you get some phat loot on November 5, 2012, tough shit. Anyway, the 1.0 game servers will continue to run (so you can play that if you want) until 2.0 gets released (Sometime in December for PC, sometime in January for PS3). Still no word if there are perversely stupid people that still wanted to play 1.0 even after 2.0 gets released, but I think Yoshi-P will announce that decision in the upcoming Live Event.

didn't the poll already determine most people don't care for 1.0 servers, so the team will totally focus on 2.0 servers instead, mew? Ya, keeping the 1.0 servers is a waste of money and resources which could be used to support 2.0 servers.

I am actually enjoying following the ARR information and I am genuinely interested in at least trying ARR.

That said when I realised it was a jenova thread I realised it would contain no relevant or important information. Only subjective praise for a game not even out of Alpha yet.

well it sounds like they have plenty of money to maintain 1.0 and 2.0 servers. and would 1.0 servers be free? how long before 1.0 users move to 2.0?

Okay, so here are some basic info I've mined from the official translation of the Producer Live 4 event...

• First phase of Alpha concluded, data will be reset
• Square Enix to take Alpha server(s) offline for a week to fix issues with lag plaguing zones that exceed 800 players
• Second phase of Alpha to commence on 11/26 if all goes well, with testing slots being opened for international players (i.e., outside of Japan) and emails will be sent out during that time (maybe a couple of days prior
• ARR is 10 weeks behind schedule and likely to get set back as the development team continually make refinements to the system
• Beta anticipated to start in late January under the best case scenario, but expected to start in early February

Time to go and pickup MoP ... something to do whilst the Moogles toil away on ARR ...
