    Yeah, the story and setting in Tanaka's XIV was nowhere near as cohesive as XI's.

    XI may not be the very good gameplay-wise, but the world and story are by far the best I've seen in any MMOG (and even single player RPGs) to this day.

      FFXI gameplay is brilliant, mew.

      People just complain it's too hard, but it's about time there's a hard FF instead of something everyone can "beat" just using a strategy guide and overleveling. (well okay some things were silly, like too little EXP gain in general, few alternatives for decent gil, class quests that can't be soloed, unnecessary hurdles for some things, NIN requiring too much money and work to manage, crafting and item farming being mandatory for money/gear, DNC not the best at anything, vague solutions to aquire certain things, Auction House monopoly etc.)

      maybe FFXIV will have a better grasp at gameplay that is doable but still content to challenge cooperative groups and stuff, mew. while having a good spectrum of rewarding and progressive things to do and more incentives to party, with alternatives to advance and stuff.

        It isn't hard (XI's gameplay), it's impossible unless you are way over the level of the mission/quest/NM or have the "official" setups in your party. And forget about going alone on pretty much anything that isn't low lvl. <_<

          I agree. XI is a bit---okay a hell of a time consuming game. But it depends on what you put into it, which is what you get out of it. That's all. :]
