Dropping from 150M to 15M is kinda sad >.>;;;; I don't have the option to drop the money to crafts cause I leveled them via the guild leves so I'm sorta out of options here. That's why its a little disheartening for me at least.

The other point that you're missing is when you have 30 million gil, being able to take all of your crafting jobs from 20-50 in 3 weeks by spending 1 milion each (on a per job basis) isn't a huge hit to you financially. I'll spend 8 mil, so after the gil conversion I'll have 2.2 mil instead of 3m. 800k isnt shit, especially with the large influx of player population we'll have once 2.0 is released. The additional player population will increase item demand and will drive pricing up. Pricing will start low, due to the gil cut we all had, but pricing will everntually rise and could get back to where we are today, the time frame is really all that's unknown.

          I'm a twat.

Uh, no shit it's not gonna stay there. But they're also adjusting gil from everything - Selling to NPCs, Quests etc - it's all being dropped to 1/10th, so in effect nothing fucking changes. The only people who will pay for stuff under the current going rates will be complete and utter morons to do so, and I just don't see it happening. Prices will deflate to match the new gil values, and gil will continue to be amassed but not at the current rate - or rather, not in the current amounts I should say. NOTHING IS CHANGING!!!!

I'm beginning to wonder how well you fared in math & economics in school, lol.... I mean you have to realize that not only with everyone's current money being cut to 1/10th, but also all sources of gil creation being cut as well it is going to take a long ass time to see the levels of gil again that we currently do now. So, yeah, it makes absolutely no difference whether you burn your gil now or after, but I don't see why you would even be burning it in the first place when it's so stupidly easy to level every craft at a pretty reasonable profit (some more than others) - particularly if you spam EXP manuals as I've been doing.

The NPC prices will drop but not the PC prices. People will still think in terms of the scale currently in play and not what it *should* be after the conversion. Old habits, especially social ones, are not easy to break.

Again I sincerely doubt that. The majority of the player base is well aware of the coming changes, and the markets *will* adjust. There's bound to be a few idiots still willing to pay the old rates but I will eat my socks if prices don't drop within any more than 2 weeks.

All this vitriol and I wasn't invited? You're all r-tards and I wish you were never born.

Anyways, I'd love to start new with 2.0. I'm fine with redoing everything according to the new experience, but the one thing I can't get back is the Goobbue mount. I know it's just a mount, but I'd hate to give it up.

i Graduated with a major in economics moron, and you still arent understanding the basic principles. You're thinking that since everyone's gil is cutting cut by 1/10, that from here on out, all money generated in FFXIV will be 1/10 of the value that it is today. AND THAT'S NOT TRUE! The only thing cutting the amount of gil down does is CUT THE AMOUNT OF GIL PLAYERS HAVE FOR THE START OF THE OPENING OF FFXIV v2.0! As soon as the game opens, gatherers will be gathering and crafters will be crafting, selling their wares at first at a smaller sell price due to the gil being cut, BUT THIS IS ONLY TEMPORARY! People will start generating wealth and accumulating gil. Supply for raw materials and crafted items is limited, and as more people come back to ffxiv with the 2.0 release, we will have an increase in demand for items. Now moron, it's simple economics. When you have an increased demand for items with a limited supply, PRICING GOES UP! Gatherers and crafters will gradually be able to sell at a higher and higher price. The only thing cut to 1/10th besides our gil is NPC prices and leve rewards. How many times do you buy shit from an NPC and how is that really going to benefit you with the 1/10th reduction in gil. Compare how much money you've spent with an NPC for the life of the game so far, and how much money you've spent on the markets for the life of the game. I would wager the amount you've spent buying items from an NPC is quite minimal. HEY MORON! That's the only thing being adjusted for gil reduction!!! That's your savings! OH! And you'll get less money from leves. The player base's gil and the markets will recover to where they were, the only thing in question is how long that will take.

PC prices should drop with the cut in players gil, but as their gil rises and the demand for products increase, sell price will go up as will player's gil accumulation.

                        Mal...

Remember when this game first came out? Do you remember how much shards, crystals and clusters were going for? Do you remember how much a single copper ore cost? How much a single yellow copper ore went for? How much a freaking piece of rabbit meat went for? Do you remember anything at all?

Hint: People didn't know what the price should be, people didn't price it based on NPC prices and people still bought shit from the retainers even if they were THREE TO FIVE TIMES MARKED UP ABOVE WHAT YOU COULD GET FROM THE NPC.

That aside, I certainly made most of my gil during that time, despite the fact that it was new. By the third month, I was rocking my 10th million gil, and if I hadn't had to spend all that money in the retainers for gear and weapons and tools, I would probably have had closer to 20 million. By most standards, this was runaway inflation, propagated by "easy" gil and fueled by expected "bad" player behaviors.

this would be so much more balanced if they studied FF7's example of economy, mew. easy to get money, decent item prices, people can sell to npcs for decent profits, set item values so things aren't overpriced. win/win for all.

This wasn't even an issue until Yoshi-P took over and for the first two months that they introduced an increase to rewards from "group" leves. Poor example.

Certainly there's always inflation risks with a new game but the rate that it ramped up in the first two or three months was equivalent to the rates we saw during the FFXI "rusty" fishing period.
