    FINAL FANTASY XIV, The Lodestone

As we transition from the game’s current version to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn, existing game content will be undergoing a number of changes. This post will detail such changes coming to items and the monetary system.

Due to extensive changes made to the battle and other major game systems, existing items and the monetary system will be rebalanced in FINAL FANTASY XIV: ARR.

Note: Company seals and items not explicitly mentioned in this post will not be changed. However, the methods for obtaining these items in FFXIV: ARR may be different.

I have mixed feelings about this. Mostly because I wanted to have them cap gil in addition to renumerating them. There were a lot of players that were using bots and illegal methods of obtaining gil and while I appreciate that SE didn't want to "ruin" things for the rest of the legit players, it doesn't change the fact that we're carrying over things into the new game that will have a negative impact on both the economy and game balance.

Re: Changes to Monetary System and Items

I'm definitely deleting my old character and making a new one when 2.0 arrives. I just hope SE is able to pull off this transition thing because I would've much rather have them start 2.0 without stuff from the old version save for commemorative and cosmetic items.

I'm in agreement with you Raydeus. BTW, you're suppose to be allowed a "free" character change with existing character data. I'm not sure about the specifics, but this was brought up in the first Produers Live event where people expressed concerns about not being able to take advantage of the fact that you have additional race/gender options as well as additional character features.

You are right, YoshiP mentioned they are supposed to allow a full remake of your character for 2.0 without losing your progress.

But I just want to start from zero again, explore the new game from the ground up without the old stuff getting in the way. And hopefully that will be enough to make me stay for a while. <_<

LOL. i feel the same way. Now im just powerleveling crafting by making goods that are 10 levels above my current crafting rank. I'm just buying the raw materials then NPC'ing what I make. It's blowing gil, but gil aint worth shit now, and I'm making 2000-2500 xp per synth without resting bonus.

              LOL you're an idiot...

Gil is being devalued, it's being scaled down. As the letter said, your purchasing power will not be diminished in any way.

But if you wanna piss your gil away that's hardly my concern. I've been powercraftig like crazy and actually profiting while doing so.

You're a moron. Your purchasing power will not be dimished in any way with NPC's. That's all they can control while reducing your gil by a tenth. Once the conversion and the game goes live, they can't control the gil price in the markets. The same thing is going to happen. People will amass gil by farming, crafting, or whatever, and eventually the level of gil will be what it once was.

Re: Changes to Monetary System and Items

And if you are actually maximizing your XP gain on crafting, its impossible to make money at every level on every craft. If you "think" you are, you're doing something wrong. You moron. I'm going from level 20-50 in 3 weeks and it's costing me about 1 million gil. Well worth it imo.

Re: Changes to Monetary System and Items

Keep in mind that maximizing XP gain in crafting is crarfting something 10 levels higher and getting 2000-2500 a synth without any bonuses. On some synths with bonuses i'm pushing clsoe to 4k a synth.

I hate how it's not auto-merging posts... Is that something a mod can fix? Or are we stuck like this?

Yes because everyone is going to pay the old prices for stuff after having all our gil cut to 1/10th.

You're not understanding... Yes our gil will be cut to a tenth, BUT IT'S NOT GOING TO STAY THERE. People will be farming, crafting, etc growing their gil to levels that they are at now. It could be one 2 months, one year, two years, no one knows, but people will be doing something in game to amass gil.

The other point that you're missing is when you have 30 million gil, being able to take all of your crafting jobs from 20-50 in 3 weeks by spending 1 milion each (on a per job basis) isn't a huge hit to you financially. I'll spend 8 mil, so after the gil conversion I'll have 2.2 mil instead of 3m. 800k isnt shit, especially with the large influx of player population we'll have once 2.0 is released. The additional player population will increase item demand and will drive pricing up. Pricing will start low, due to the gil cut we all had, but pricing will everntually rise and could get back to where we are today, the time frame is really all that's unknown.
