So Foundation Day is back and I haven't a clue if there's any kind of "event" to participate in. I warp to Mor Dhona and got MPK'd by some jackass dragging around some "??" aoe spamming monster. Is there a purpose to all free warping to that zone or can I safely "ignore" it? Only reason why I'm bothering with it is if there are rewards like any other "holiday" event.

There is an achievement for killing your first Atomos I believe but no gear reward from the achievement.
The actual "reward" is over-aspect clusters (first kill only) and over-aspect crystals (% chance on all future kill) which can be redeemed for GC Seals at a special NPC in your home nation.
You are however a little late to the event and due to some people taking advantage of the event to acquire large amounts of gil the event has been multi-nerfed by SE in the last week or so making it much less appealing for people to re-do the event. If you aren't bothered about GC seals or money you can safely ignore it, if you want the achievement hopefully your server still has enough people to kill it with as it can not be solo'd. -

Thanks. I'll just choose to ignore it. I'm not a fan of legacy achievements as it usually means nothing especially when we're moving into 2.0. Since they're going to cap gil at (100M-1), people doing it for gil and are over that amount are wasting their time. I'm more worried about emptying out my various retainers and trying to get some gil (> NPC sell value) before 2.0 hits. I've heard rumors that they are reducing capacity on retainers to half of what it is right now and that means for a lot of affected players, they're going to lose any items or materials that are currently being held over that capacity right now.Comment

hah, you missed out on all the fun.
People were making gil and GC seals like nobody's business off Atomos (not to mention all the free anima). They did 1 nerf within the 1st 2 days (changing the cluster to only on the 1st kill) and then just the other day they nerfed the NPC sale price of all items bought by seals to 1 gil, as people were converting seals to dawn drops (10 seals for 15 drops that previously sold for 129 gil each).
Some people made over 100,000 seals in just the 1st night of Atomos being up....Comment

Yoshi P said that items over the new retainer limit would not be lost, instead they would be stored in a special NPC in 2.0 where you could collect them when you freed up space.Comment

yeah but i'm still annoyed by that. I typically carry about 180 items on me at a given moment, at least half of which being equipment and the rest crafting materials. both my mules are loaded up nicely too.Comment

I still rather do something about the inventory on my retainers than wait for a nightmare scenario. Hope for the best; prepare for the worst.Comment
