    And speaking of Blitzball, XIV needs a PvP version of it for 2.0

          Nah, he was just mentioning how Masamune would be added when/if NIN or SAM was added to the game. XD

          Although all classes were able to equip Masamune in a few games, so it's not so far out there to think NIN could wield it in XIV. And there's also Muramasa.

            ... yet you forget the whole design surrounding class changing in this game. So, no, it wouldn't work.

              But that's the difference between armory and jobs isn't it? If you are equipped with a Job stone thing you can easily open the ability to use more than one type of weapon. And NIN or SAM would definitely be jobs.

              I'm not saying that's how it will work though, just that that's one way they could implement it by making it a job exclusive weapon.

                  That's sort of the tradition left by XI, but it really depends on where YoshiP&Co. want to go. After all Archer went Bard. <_<;

                    ohh so you think Ninja might be a Class and Samurai is its Job kind of? Well technically ninjas can wield katanas, so maybe they can wield any katana, even great katanas, and that carries over to Samurai, mew. Ninja might be able to tank, DoT, and stuff, while Samurai could be DD specialist.

                      No, he's saying that Ninja and Samurai would be jobs, if they hold true to how they progressed their "advanced jobs" over basic jobs in FFXI.

                      Physical:

                      Pugilist
                      Archer
                      Gladiator
                      Marauder
                      Lancer

                      Monk = Pugilist + Lancer
                      Paladin = Gladiator + Conjurer
                      Warrior = Gladiator + Marauder
                      Dragon = Lancer + Pugilist
                      Bard = Archer + Conjurer
                      White Mage = Conjurer + Gladiator
                      Black Mage = Thaumaturge + Pugilist

                      With addition of Arcanist as a class and Summoner as a job, the team can rework the relationship for magic jobs. I would imagine Ninja being a melding of Pugilist + Arcanist (if they keep their Jutsu Scrolls from FFXI) or Pugilist + Marauder while Samurai being a combination of Marauder + Pugilist.

                      This of course poses tricky problems when you have people clamboring for jobs like thief/rogue/assassin as the weapon options start to diminish greatly with the armory system (which they ARE going to keep in 2.0)

                        Re: 25th Anniversary Translation (MASSIVE CHANGES ON THE WAY)

                        Honestly, I think NIN will be derived from Assassin (it's in the .dats, they just haven't used it).

                        Arcanist wouldn't work what with the whole pet-based thing (even if they are an enfeebling class). Also, my whole headdesk earlier was to the minimune comment... you do know that Masamune refers to a famous blacksmith right? Anyhoo...

                        There are 2 possibilities I can see for SAM and NIN: Both get their own class, with 2 different kinds of Katana (like in XI) or they both share one class that each can equip a special set of different weapons. Honestly I'm leaning more towards each of them getting their own class personally.

                        Assassin seems like the most likely candidate (assuming they haven't just scrapped it) for Ninja, using THM and PUG for subskills (unless they add a Rogue class for THF in which case that could fit too). Dualwield would have to be Assassin exclusive (I'm surprised jobs don't actually get traits yet) with each job quest giving NIN at least 2 new spells, a job WS and of course their special skill. As long as Utsusemi is a NIN-only skill and consumes MP instead of tools, all will be fine with NIN this time around - no more /NIN shenanigans this time around, and no shadow abuse either - they absolutely can not make NIN use tools again because of the removal of recasts for spells and weaponskills. Otherwise NIN will be able to spam Ninjutsu all day provided you have enough tools piled up. It'd be nice to see Shuriken be a functional tool this time as well - NIN was too focused on abusing dual wield in XI, would rather see it go back to throw & ninjutsu this time around.

                        As for Samurai, I haven't a clue. The base class (Ronin lol? come on that'd be funny... and oddly appropriate given that jobs are for party play) would have to be something of a hybrid between GLA and MRD - a 2 handed Katana user that tries to balance offense & defense, with SAM being much more offensively focused. If they go for the TP route again though, it's going to step on DRG's toes somewhat and you could make a case for several classes as to what it's subskills should be.

                          oh ya Assassin is in the data, mew. so ya it does make sense assassin would be its class. Not sure about Musketeer what that developers into, maybe Corsair? As for Samurai, its class might be called Ronin or something.

                            I would ask just wtf you're on and where you get it, but I'm afraid that even just little hit and I might never be normal again.

                            Seriously, I think I figured it out. I know what J9 really is:
