Gathering spots

Where is a good camp to mine level 23? Also should I get botany to 25 (currently 21) for sweat of brow prior to leveling miner further? From seeing some posts from Mal, it seems like sweat of brow is pretty damn worthwhile.

It's better to go to Uldah area to mine for leveling purposes and to get decent leves. The areas around Gridania and Limsa tend to be ... at least for the R4-5 camps ... quite a pain, because there are many monsters that will aggro you and are too high of a level for Stealth (at your current level) to be of any use. If you don't mind constantly swapping between a higher War/Magic class to nuke them out of your way, then you should find a less unappealing zone to mine in.

I had just heard Uldah areas were a pain because you had alot of runnig around to do. Someone mentioned another camp for rank 23ish... Do you have sweat of brow? Worth leveling botanist to r25 to get it for miner?

Uh, since when? Bloodshore is very, very safe save for that one Roseling NM that wanders a bit but is easily avoided.

It depends on what you're after. If you just want EXP, any of the 3 lv 20 camps will do. Bloodshore is great for Iron, and Emerald Moss is nice for Zinc (which you can also get at Tranquil Paths along with silver, and I highly recommend that spot for 25~30. It's annoying wandering around the area for the mining points but it's worth it for the silver).

So Bloodshore until i hit 25, the Tranquil for silver. Cool! What level is your miner now? Is it worth grinding botanist to 25 first to get sweat of brow to use on miner?

That's what I did, and honestly I don't recommend it unless you plan to level both jobs simultaneously anyway (so you can share gear).

SoB kicks in maybe 5% of the time at best. It's amazing when it does, since it doubles your EXP, but like I said, rarely ever procs. Wish they would hurry up and change that.

Bloodshore SUCKS past 22 so you need to move on to Cedarwood. The problem with that are the level 30sh vultures which Stealth II does not provide adequate protection from. Ditto for Black Shroud. This is why I said the area around Uldah is a bit easier since you can "avoid" most of those aggro mobs and those areas are leve'd a lot and are kept pretty clear of mobs. I hit up R4 camps at 22 and thoroughly enjoyed it as the levels whizzed past really quickly. Once I hit 30, I need to hit up some leves until about 32sh and then need to figure out where to go from there. When you're at 28, you get Stealth III, which means ANY R4 camp is worth mining for. I would suggest Mithril and Cobalt if your BSM/ARM are still in the 30s.

I'm 23, so i should hit an r4 camp then Aeni like you suggested. So Cedarwood is a good r4 camp, save for the aggro? It's ok, I'll just macro a gear swap from a 50 job to miner and back.

Yeah you're right, been too long since I leveled my MIN. Can try Tranquil paths now if you like (for the Zinc & Silver if you're crafting) or else just jump straight to Cedarwood which is nice & easy, though you're mining pretty much the same things you would at bloodshore (iron and brimstone).

SO I'm rank 39 miner now and I'm going to do leves for the most part, just repeting Halatai > Nophica Wells over and over since they reset upon completion. I havent tried it, I wonder if Halatai leves reset after completing them without having to do another set like Nophica. I havent tried it yet, but with the lack of XP (more than it is already) after i hit 40, it might be worth looking in to. Well, now that I have lay of the land 5, i might just be mining all throughout Halatai. The best mining item i've been able to unearth is electrum ore which sells for 2kish. Anyone have a better camp or mining item to go after? I know price differs server to server, but it has to be relatively close.

On another note, anyone know the best breakdown as far as what stats are best for mining? I had been told Gathering > Output > Perception, but I'm not sure if one evetually caps out and it'd be better it invest points in one of the other stats.

Why would you do Nophica at 39? The only places I alternate between (depending on what materials I need) are Halatali and Iron Lake.

Coerthas is the best place for Mythril though.

start in uldah with 4 leves:

tele > Halatai, 3 anima cost, do 2 leves and gain 12k in 15-20 mins
return > nophica, do 2 leves and gain 6k exp in 15-20 mins
return > uldah and get 4 more leves
rinse and repeat

18kish xp in 30-40 mins with gold for completion at an anima cost of 3. thats about as efficient as you can get in my book. AND ALL OF THIS IS WITHOUT ANY XP BONUS.

Except that Nophica is on the complete opposite end of the map from Halatali.

I prefer to just warp to Iron Lake or Halatali and then return when I'm done and grab 2 new leves. Along with food, rested exp (if applicable) and manuals I level hella fast.

GC seals and anima aren't an issue for me anymore since I started doing Carvan.
