I finally got what Mal was talking about. Apparently it's really random and I wonder if it's completely possible to not get this at all (before 2.0) I'll throw up a vidcap later.

The player sees a few different visions during the main quest.

It's random but the way it will only trigger is if you choose the "log out" or "exit game" from the bed (Go to the inn, get inside your room and "target" your bed for options) When you next log in to your character, you'll have a random chance of triggering this scene.

I really should do more of the main quest. I've just gotten too lazy with FFXIV and leasious dragged me back to WoW at about the same time I decided to give FFXIV another go (I enjoy it now and the changes to the game make me want to play it again, but I'm tempted to wait until 2.0), so I've been more busy with that XD

Haven't been following the game; I'm guessing this is related to released content?

Mal and I were discussing this a couple of months ago (Mal experienced it then and it took me this long, multiple log-ins, before getting it myself) Since it was added in with the changes to the inn, I'm assuming it's related to content then, or maybe tied to the Hamlet content. I was wondering if you can experience additional "nightmares", maybe a string of them culminating in a bonus or secret quest :O

Logged in, went AFK, and came back to find out ... I got another dream?!? Oh man ... I feel so ... bad to have missed it.

Yeah I've had that one, I've also had one where an enormous crystal shattered in my hands.

I just discovered that if you examine the bed, you'll get a free "treat" from the inn. So lovely of them.
