Definitely World of Warcraft influence with the character sheet... not that it's a bad thing. If it ain't broke, why fix it ...

It's looking good. I really, really hope it's worth it.

        This one caught my eye:

And I actually like the current gear menu better.

          Re: Screenshots of 2.0: In-game/art!

I don't like the current gear menu ... and I bet because of the way it's designed, it affects lag, so when you macro gear swap, it's not as seamless as it is in WoW ... in fact, it currently behaves like it does in FFXI and that was annoying as hell there.

The UI needs to achieve these goals:

          (1) It needs to be functional

It needs to work properly. It should not hinder. It should not delay.

          (2) It needs to be minimal

It needs to achieve more with less. It should not be a barrier to function. It should not clutter. It should not obscure.

          (3) It needs to be shmexy as hell.

Cause if you plan on spending the next 150 gameplay days (3,600 gameplay hours) staring at it, it ought to look damn good.

So far, 2.0 has a fair balance of the last two, but the important first point can only be tested through actual gameplay.

Rule #1: Yellow Chocobos can't fly.

Also, that's just a chocobo jumping.

I wish they would hold this in London instead ... so they'd speak English.

LOL I know right? At first it's all German... and then Yoshi P comes up and I go "Oh great, another language I don't understand too well" XD

Well, at least I can catch the odd word or phrase in JP - German is a complete mystery to me.

Well, the damn thing is, German is not a common language compared with English, French, Mandarin, Spanish or Portuguese (cause Brazil is a big country) Heck, last I checked, most of Germany's old colonies have converted either to French or English as their primary means of interacting with the rest of the world.

I'm just mostly bitter that they had to choose that avenue rather than pushing the timetable a bit down for TGS (I think they need to delay release another couple of weeks) where you know anime fansubbers will translate the streams literally on the fly for you. At the very least, it would serve as a more prominent marketing platform than Gamescon could.

I'm not so sure - Gamescon is technically the biggest event of the year, even bigger than E3 (or so I've read) - it just never seems to catch as much press locally, idk why.

If that's the case, then why is there so little news and so little hype. There isn't even the kind of publicity campaign E3 and TGS tends to garner (complete with live entertainment and the like)
