Aeni, I'm pretty sure you're the only person here who even might meet the Japanese qualifications, let alone all of the other stuff.

On the other hand, it seems really, really sad to me that SE has to turn to the community to look for translators. That screams "nobody already in the industry wants to touch this thing".

this isn't the sort of job anyone takes up with the hopes of thankfulness, though. This is one of those jobs that someone will talk about in an interview in ten years along the lines of "Well yeah, the game was shit, and the job was worse, but it's how I got my start in the industry". As with all industries, it's many times easier to get a job again once you have the experience and contacts.

Lulz I wish I fulfilled the requirements. I'm still struggling with mid-level kanji because I'm too lazy to read more often. XD

If anything this is indeed the kind of thing that will open the doors to living in Japan for people interested.

keep in mind that while Raydeus' English is, as a second language speaker, rather incredible, that doesn't mean he's able to write brilliantly, in a fantasy context. I wouldn't put it past him to manage something very good, but at the same time it would be very hard for him to fulfill some requests I'm sure (like writing in KJV English).

And Malacite, if you really wanted a localization job, you would've learned Japanese a long time ago.

I'm honestly not sure it counts as luck. I mean, it is possible to learn the Japanese language if one is interested in something like this.

You're much too kind Feba, but I'm not sure I have some of the specific credentials needed for this job, especially:

Currently living in Japan (or possess the get-up-and-go needed to get up and go to Japan)

With a family and a wife that would rather divorce me than be forced to move off the island, I would be hard pressed to even entertain the idea, let alone actually go through with the process of applying (and subsequently being interviewed) for the job. Not sure of your own circumstances, but you (Feba) are more than qualified to apply and I think some of the other members here probably don't have the kind of obligations (ball and chain ) tying them down.
