Re: Ragnarok Linkshell Community: Dreams in Vanadiel
They're not encouraging it - otherwise they wouldn't have nerfed power leveling as much as they did.
I really don't care for it, but if someone offers I may or may not accept depending on how I feel. Basically it's not something I actively seek or encourage, but I won't turn it down necessarily if it comes my way either. You can only power level combat classes anyway, since afaik DoL and DoH don't get EXP from mobs even in a PT.

Go ahead and correct me if I'm wrong here, but the reason I stated that the dev's were "okay" with PL is this thread:
Quote: Taking everything into consideration, we understand that there will be pros and cons no matter what, but ultimately, we have decided that as a current generation MMORPG we would like to do something about,
"new players who would like some help, because they want to play with their friends as soon as possible, as well as players who are willing to sacrifice their own time to help out new players get involved in the game quicker."
We plan on implementing end-game content that is extremely difficult, so if assistance is necessary to reach this point I believe that it should be OK for players to help each other out, as long as there are players who are willing to help out.
Differences in gained experience points based on the difference between the player’s level and the defeated monster’s level will still exist, and will be adjusted. Our goal is to prevent any kind of extreme behavior. If any loopholes are found, we would like to fix these issues as they are discovered.
I believe that whether a player is playing seriously or not is a separate issue from whether the player is receiving assistance or not.
Personally, I am the type who believes that it is more fun to work hard and experience as much as you can first hand up until at least level 40, but if somebody comes asking for help saying, "I tried my best up until level 30, but I don’t have any more time!" I will help out.
Of course you would want your friends to enjoy an MMO that you enjoy playing, and if somebody is stuck in a situation where their enjoyment is hitting a wall, you would want to help out. Ultimately, it would be best for everybody to get along and play together.
I'll correct myself--it's not necessarily a full-on support stance on PL, but Yoshida's basically being "eh, well...it's there, that's fine."
Re: Ragnarok Linkshell Community: Dreams in Vanadiel
My impression of the developer's thoughts on this are distilled in these bullet points:
= We do not have a problem with players helping other, lower level players, in leveling them up.
= However, if there are instances where people exploit game mechanics or are otherwise engaged in behavior in violation of TOS, we will deal with them accordingly.
= The real challenge will be in end game content so we are not worried that pre-end game content may or may not be trivialized by the current leveling system.
I'll go diffuse this situation by offering a misdirection.
Re: Ragnarok Linkshell Community (name yet to be determined)
Ladies, gentlemen, zombies...I come to you as a humble newcomer to the world of Eoreza. I am but a friendless, gearless hobo in your virtual world. I've spent my meager existence stabbing lost lambs, pocketing crystals, and fleeing from ravenous gangs of level 4-5 chigoes.
But I crave more of what this world has to offer. I long for a community. A collection of friends to help me develop beyond a lowly sheep shanker into a chocobo-riding, chigoe stomping, whirlwind of death and destruction. I'd also love to return the favor to other newcomers, and contribute my abilities to any oldcomers(?) down the road.
So please, if you have it in your hearts to accept a level 8 GLA fresh off the boat in Limsa Lominsa, just point me in the right direction. I'm on Ragnarok, of course, and am responding primarily to the advertisement posted on the official FFXIV forums.*
*Why didn't I post there, you ask? Because the FFXIV forums are doody, and I couldn't log in to the official forums. Their loss, if you ask me.
Let's face it if the LS will have me they'll have anyone.
Well in that case, count me in! My username is Rokuro Kubi, and I'm usually on in the evenings (CST). Are there any particular applications I'll need to fill out, or do I simply need to find an officer for an invite/linkpearl?
Re: Ragnarok Linkshell Community: Dreams in Vanadiel
Ambush a member, officer or our Fearless Leader and someone will come and find you. Obviously it would be quicker if you ambushed one of the leadership :3
Re: Ragnarok Linkshell Community: Dreams in Vanadiel
I'm currently not playing (at least for the week) because I just moved into a new house... but as soon as everything is squared away (aka: I put together my desk and set my rig back up again), I'll be playing again. I'm just thankful I logged out the last time inside the Inn. God, I'm going to have so much bonus XP to rake in when I get back.
In the meantime, any of the officers can give you a pearl to the shell. Look for Aeni, Hayde, Firewind, Etra, Lakotah, Malacite or Raydeus' characters in game. They'll be the ones most likely to be online. Their character names are on the Sub-forum's Leadership Listings thread.
The ones I can remember off the top of my head:
Mal = Nefertina Goldenpaws
Lakotah = Lakotah Pride
Hayde = Teddy Westside
Ray = Raydeus Venlokin
The others names are generally too difficult to remember the spellings for.
Good luck tracking them down. Lakotah spends a lot of time hanging out in Ul'Dah right near the Merchants ward.

Hey gang,
Saw the recruitment on the forum at the Lodestone, I thought I would join the insanity, Name is Savain Wyr... Loved the community in FFXI, and I have faith it would transfer here.... I look forward in seeing yall in game.
Re: Ragnarok Linkshell Community: Dreams in Vanadiel
Just Joined, Highlander Male - shooting for my first advanced class of warrior. Glad 15/Mar ~22ish and climbing. Primary grinding for blacksmith/miner but definitely spilling into the other trades.
I've played IX for a few months before; but my work shift was graveyard and didn't allow me to interact much with others. (plus some of the international players I could group with were rude to me )
I've got extensive MMO experience, all the way back to ultima online. I'm happy to join up and hope our future together is bright.
Re: Ragnarok Linkshell Community: Dreams in Vanadiel
Hey, I've decided to start FFXIV over from scratch in the hopes of being able to experience the pre-2.0 content. I've started on Ragnarok, is there any chance I could get a pearl from you guys?
I'm a Lalafell in Ul'dah, going to aim for MRD/WAR to start with and I guess I don't know any more than that.
Re: Ragnarok Linkshell Community: Dreams in Vanadiel
Holy carp! I guess everything really does happens for a reason. Turns out my random picking of the Ragnarok server works out after all!
I joined this forum a while back planning to jump into FFXIV the first time around, but when it turned out XIV was REALLYbad, I decided to wait for a bit while things got better. This past week I decided to give it a go with the legacy campaign, and honestly I've enjoyed it immensely. What's more, I pretty much picked the Ragnarok server on a whim, just trying to play, and ended up on with all of you people!
I played XI quite a bit back in the day, but XIV is quite different, so help is always appreciated (Grand Company quests anyone?) At the moment I'm planning on taking DRG all the way, Monk and Warrior possibly as well. I've started quite a few of the crafting classes as well, as I'd like to be able to help there as much as possible too. Over the weekend I took as many things as I could to lvl10 or so, and trying to do the odd quest I find here or there.
Hyouden Lionheart
Race/Gender: Male Midlander Hyur
Disciple of War: All sitting at around 10 right now.
Disciple of Magic: THM 5
Disciple of the Hand: Blacksmith, Armorer, Weaver, Leatherworker, Goldsmith Lvl10.
Disciple of the Land: All lvl10
Grand Company: N/A so far.
Guild Involvement: N/A so far.
Mission Progress: Just finished the "Treasures of the main" I believe.
I'd love to get a pearl if you'll have me. I hope to stick around for a while.
