Poll: Do you plan to continue playing this game when the first payment is due?

Just a quick poll out of curiousness of who will continue playing the game when it shifts to pay subscription (no longer free to play)

I still haven't decided on whether or not I will (nothing to do with their shift to payment subscription) because I am not sure if I'd devote to more than an hour of play per month. The holidays will be upon us and I have the PS3 to keep me busy along with a couple of marquee titles for the PC so I can't see myself having time (I already have barely an hour each weeknight for myself what with helping my eldest with her homework and tending to the "tewwor of the tewibble two" 2-year old daughter)

How about you guys? I know Skyrim is around the corner and there are a lot of titles for just about every platform that will be released between now and well into February of next year.

Well, the poll left the option of "no, not until 2.0 is released" which is what I'm likely to do unless 1.21 is a game changer. I've re-rolled at least 12+ times since people keep leaving/servers getting empty. I've currently got a 22 lancer with no real motivation to level, and an older character that's been stuck @ 41 gladiator for like a year now.

Whatever excuse Yoshi-P might be giving, I don't really feel like it's worth my $15 to pay for an incomplete game that's going to have basically all its fundamental system's thrown out the window by this time next year. It might be one thing if I'm only playing XIV, but I'm currently subbing XI and I still got a Rift account that I need to cancel soo...

And there's also DCUO which is now F2P, and that is 100 times more fun to play than XIV.

I'm seriously doubting they will get the funds to finish 2.0, but let's hope. While also hoping it is actually fun to play by then.

In the mean time, Skyrim is awesome so far.

Well, that's still the same as not paying for the subscription (until 2.0) Use the "undecided" for general catch-alls.

I chose yes, because one 1.20 comes out, the game will be at that point (at least for me) where I will play it, and I want to experience the story leading up to 2.0

You know, you brought up an important point which I totally forgot about from the previous Producer Live event. It was the fact that once 2.0 rolls out, stories and quests will not be available and I think in this latest Live event, they added more features:

A: First, you'll be able to enjoy and participate in the Seventh Umbral Era event. There'll be achievements related to that which won't be available later. There'll be achievement rewards, battles with the Garlean Empire, and other items that will be exclusive to that period.

On top of that, since we introduced the mount system in 1.19, we're looking at whether we could gift players with special mounts. The development team is performing a bunch of tests for various mounts. Among them, however, we're thinking about giving away a goobbue as a special mount for those who play the current version. He won't available later, so don't miss it.

That Goobbue mount would keep me vested in the subscription even if I don't have time to play.

I put no, but I have changed my mind. I will pay for the game until I see whether or not I like Old Republic enough. I mean, if I hate SWTOR and I end up in XIV, missing an exclusive mount... I will so pissed at myself. Not to mention, I already have 2 months worth of crysta on my account from launch.

I wasn't going to, but the class reform info and the fact that I have 5000 crysta just sitting in my SE-ID is making me consider hanging around for at least a month after the billing starts.

Worst case scenario is that I'll stick to my original plan by playing @ 1.21 to see the jobs.

TM talks about a lot of stuff he maybe shouldn't without trying to hide it. That's probably not a very good metric. Neko sentai probably is the 2nd worst kept secret of the FFXI community after windower, though.
