The interview also states that PvP will be totally separate from PvE

Well, PvP is going to be restricted to areas on the map, so they could just prevent people from using the said summons in a PvP context since acquiring the summons does require completing a PvE content. However, the previous interviews seem to indicate that you could use the summon against another group of players and not just monsters.

This is correct. A company would not be able to possess more than one type of a particular summon. However, this begs the question: is this design to prevent a player from leaving a particular company after acquiring a summon or does the company (no explanation regarding this and I don't recall anyone discussing a "guild bank") require those present at the time they successfully acquired the summon to be the same group of players to summon (i.e., you cannot just have one player summon this anytime, anywhere)

It could just be that we are all attuned to the pitfalls of new content and a new system and given the track record of SE, we've the right to be suspicious. In the end, we could all end up being a bunch of pollyannas (with J9 being the sole exception here) or we could be vindicated in one or more ways. Only time will tell.

Any guess on how long after J9 can finally play FFXIV before the game is dead to them and the next big thing gets mewed over?

Where have you been?

It's now Skyrim, FF Type-0 and KoF XIII for J9.

White Knight Chronicles 2 came out last month and not a single mew was given.

And just to add, I think it's cute how the FFXI and FFXIV communities each think the other game is dead/dying when neither is true.

The ability of people on DiV reading things into what I say never surprises me, really.

I've been:

- MS fanboy, when I acknowledge I like thier service,
- Sony fanboy, when I cite their right to protect thier network.
- Nintendo fanboy pretty much just for having the audacity to be excited for a Nintendo game.
- FFXI hater
- FFXI apple polisher
- extremely knowledgeable
- totally dumb
- its been implied I'm a racist, misogynistic homophobe. Some serious projection going on there BTW, I'm not your parents, people.
- and the list goes on and on.

I am whatever you need me to be.

I do hate EA though, that's not fiction!

Also, my absence was for games. You can expect my next vaycay at roughly midnight tonight EST and my return some time after my interest in DCUO, Skyrim, Zelda, UMVC 3, Mario, Shinobi and Sonic wanes. There's also the Peacewalker stuff to enjoy online for the first time. And then the Portal 2 co-op I need to catch up on.

I said what I did about FFXI and FFXIV because it's true, it's not a symptom limited to Murphie, this would because I do poke around other sectors of the MMO community where the worldview is generally "The grass is greener on OUR side."

Given I'm a Green Lantern in DCUO right now, that's totally the case for me. My grass is always greener.
