Re: FFXIV 2.0
The few things i've read so far look nice, but it depends on whether they can deliver or not. Though I'm curious about how many people would be willing to pay a monthly fee for the -work in progress- version of XIV in the mean time.
Because I'm certainly not.
So, like usual I'll give them the benefit of the doubt while I play Skyrim, GW2 and ZOE HD among others.sigpic

Re: FFXIV 2.0
I hope they can make it work as they are planning to. But not holding my breath at this point.
Imagine if they had done what they promised at first. We'd be playing XI using XIV's engine and having Eorzea-ish expansions. With XI-HD pretty much steamrolling most other MMOGs with it's music, graphics and content.
...or at least that's how I picture that alternate reality we never got to see.sigpic

Re: FFXIV 2.0
mew! that was past team's fault! This team has leader that understands and cares about this unlike the previous people who just treated it like a job they just do, mew.
And also are open to community to get better understanding what things are fixed instead of the previous turtle team that just guessed what needed fixing without really asking for community thoughts in a direct developers to community forum!

Re: FFXIV 2.0
Now I'm sitting here asking myself if I want to jump in and play or not. <_<
GAH.
I mean, I do like the game post 1.9... I just have no one to play with since the gays over at GG are being annoying.Last edited by Etra; 10-14-2011, 01:22 PM. Reason: GG = GayGamer, by the way. In case you thought I was being homophobic with the earlier comment.sigpic

Re: FFXIV 2.0
GW2 has some pretty amazing art and world features, but in GW2's case they purposedly went with a lower spec world and relied heavily on their art department to make it look better without being too taxing.
XIV on the other hand would have a comparably amazing art and world, but in HD. So if they actually managed to pull it off they could easily beat even GW2. But it's all hot air talk for now until they actually deliver the goods so we can compare them to GW2 in a proper way.

What you want to do instead is keeping an eye on it's development and see if they can really pull off a Phoenix re-entry into the MMOG scene. Then you may want to play it again.sigpic

Re: FFXIV 2.0
I'm not sure if people are aware but 2.0 is a whole new game. There will be a packaged (or downloadable) software or client that will be put on sale for both the PC and the PS3 in 2013. This means that, while SE is committed to providing DLC until then, there will be no major changes to the game. They are currently moving to the paid subscription model in a month or two, so for those that have made liberal use of the free period, now is the time to take care of those additional characters and the items, gil and gear that they hold before cancelling them (unless you do not mind paying $3 per character, including the first character + the $9.95 monthly scheduled fees)
While I welcome the changes, I will not bother to continue playing the game (Version 1.0) until we get more information from Square-Enix regarding migration (or lack thereof) of our current progress in the game (This includes items, gil and gear in addition to character development, skills, quests and anything else you've acquired from when you first started playing this game) If they intend on zeroing out our current state to prepare for Version 2.0, then what is the point in continuing to invest time and money into the current version? I don't have a problem with this at all and I don't mind a reset but what I'm concerned with is whether or not there is value in continuing to play when there is an almost certainty that you'll lose everything anyway (besides the entertainment you received from doing so) Was this what Square-Enix had intended or was this an unintended consequence of their proposed changes?
If there is any doubt to what I'm suggesting, please note the Roadmap pdf in which Nov 2012 has been slated as the start of the PS3 client beta testing phase and that the release of Version 2.0 a couple of months later is being dubbed as "Reboot Phase". A reboot, in standard definitions, is to start again - from a clean slate.
