    SE tends to break things when they do emergency maintenances. It's no skin off my nose if someone rushes to the cap.

      I'm honestly not understanding why it matters if other people get to the cap really fast. Why does that affect you in any way?

        Because that means it makes low/mid level content trivial for many players. If that happens, it makes it even harder to find a party in the game pre-raptors. Not to mention, all the gear you craft for low/mid level players will take even longer to sell, if it sells at all. In essence this makes starting out as a crafter even harder, as you're not getting a return and at least breaking even. Everything will become top heavy.

        If you think not many people are taking advantage of it, just go into Mun-Tuy. If you are even able to get a party pre-raptors, the main leveling area will be filled to the brim with power levelers... Making it near impossible to even party in the first place.

          Still not seeing the issue. What I'm seeing is "I feel that people should level slower because I'm having trouble selling things and can't find groups."

          Now, obviously SE seems to agree that there's an issue, probably because they simply aren't ready to crank out endgame content at a rate that will please those who raced to get there. Hell, clearly they weren't ready to crank out early to mid-game content at a rate that would please people.

          I'll agree that one doesn't want a game to become top heavy so soon after it's release (if Aeni says it's still a beta one more time, I swear. The game had a street date. It was bought at full price by many people at launch. They may be able to come back from the massive failure that this has been, but stop saying it's a beta. It's not the same thing), but as a player, it honestly doesn't affect me one way or the other if people race or crawl to the cap. Unless I"m worried about keeping up with the joneses, which I'm not.

            Then tell the mass amount of power levelers to gtfo of the area us lower levels are trying to level in. ~_~

                This is basically what happened to XI with Aby.

                Lower level gear became pretty much impossible to get unless you crafted it yourself, and considering how bad the market is in XIV only means bad news for newbs like me. Although if I actually start playing the game often (unlikely) I was thinking about crafting all my gear anyway. Because 100k+ for level 6 gear is beyond retarded.

                Not to mention when Aby was implemented XI had years of content to keep people busy even if they rushed to 75 in a day. But I'm not sure XIV has enough content to keep people busy after they hit 75 without the leveling grind padding playtime.

                So yeah, not sure Aby XP is such a good idea at this point in XIV's artificially-supported-life.


                PS > I don't play very often (as evidenced by my history/log/whatever on the Lodestone) and since I'm forever aloneâ„¢ chances are I'm not going to get a PL to 50 anytime soon. So I'd probably need to level all the crafts to a decent level just to make enough gear to try and have fun leveling in the game.

                It... just doesn't compute no matter how I try to look at it.

                  Don't worry, Raydeus! To help you through those terrible low levels, some people are offering services for power leveling. 500k for one hour. gogo

                  Side note: Why the bleeding Hell is Ifrit battle at 25 and 50? Yeah, it's harder at 50, but what the balls? Shouldn't the battle be the carrot I'm chasing after? Seems sort of like a thrown together idea just to slap on some quick content.

                    Though it saddens me to think there will be people out there who will actually pay for it.

                    More like Alpha no? They are still testing features and moving too many things around that may or may not be in the final version. It just can't be considered Beta until they are at 100% of the projected changes and all good and ready to test the game prior to release.

                    I just hope they have the guts to restart all characters if a job system reboot is needed. Removing Physical was a first step in that direction.

                      They can say it all they like. Doesn't mean they're right. Nor does repeating it.

                      Game was released. They fucked up. No amount of "Oh, actually this is a beta" is going to fix that. And yeah, more like Alpha, really.

                        But yeah technically you are correct, the game was released over a year ago. However, for practical purposes you need to consider it an Alpha/Beta build or you simply wont be able to talk about it and it's many changes in a coherent way.

                            yeah this pretty much, I tell people all the time, "oh well yeah its back in beta stage again" ;p

                            The game was released, was in horrible condition, and now it is being updated more now then it was in the real beta ;p

                              When I say this game is still in beta, I am not excusing Square-Enix at all. I meant in the most sarcastic sense of that word in the context that it was used in. And technically it isn't Alpha because you have end game content (Ifrit) already in it. Alpha is a monicker reserved for a game that may not even see the light of day, which isn't true in this case.

                              For example, Cataclysm completely changed WoW, in a way that makes Vanilla hardly recognizable. Does this mean that the game was in Alpha state prior to the expansion? Of course not.

                                Yoshi-P said they would not be doing a character reset. The only time the would is if it was impossible to avoid -- and then they would just restore characters to what each player had before the reset.
