what are you two talking about, you dont have to keep clicking the mouse to do anything like that, not since 1.8 update

other then that it is pretty much like FFXI is

you auto attack
you have your two macro bars
and now you have a hot bar as well

maybe you don't know. how do you get rid of the stupid hot bar them? It is pointless and I have to click on it to attack anything. What ever happened to the KISS philosophy?

If you want to attack something, target it with your weapon drawn. Draw weapon -> target. It used to be a simple double-click, but it's since changed and has thrown a few people through a loop, including myself. It makes sense, but it doesn't feel right in practice.

I don't particularly care for the auto attack feature because in certain kinds of battles, I require immediately making contact rather than waiting on a swing timer to hit something (recent summer festival is a good example why auto attack fails for a melee)

Don't use mouse to click on hot bar; just use your keyboard. Or use a controller (which I do) especially if you say you played FFXI before. You can map keys as well ... it's in the configuration options. Since you just installed the game, I highly advise you to familiarize yourself with the UI and configuration instead of being lazy and expecting the game to work like FFXI.

The game has undergone a lot of changes since it was released last year and while there were a lot of positive changes, there were also some confusing and redundant changes. And a couple that were bad IMO.
