    Archers wont fall back in DD, they will still shine, people are just crying nerf before they even know what in the world they are talking about.

              Actually Rift is like FFXI-HD which is why I play it still.

                For those of you complaining about how haste is going to screw up the game, what haste abilities are there outside of Speed Surge and similar Lancer abilities? (And, keep in mind, Speed Surge and what not are Lancer only abilities...)

                  Right now, just LNC's Speed Surge. But again, this is XI's old dev team at work and I'm not putting anything past them just yet.

                  Shit, just look at XIV's launch...

                      I know that it never cost mp, but now its an ability as in a free spell, thus they were not "nerfed"

                      Its also a ranged attack of some sort, you can't give mages a long distance auto attack that would be unbalanced.

                      So far we established that melee is AA and ranged/spells isn't, which makes sense to me, since its possible to abuse this by having a bunch of alts standing out of AoE range auto-attacking the mob as an example.

                      RNG was pretty tricky to play with the hate it generated and I can see it being the same for ARC, so having ranged attacks a manual attack seems like a good idea.

                      Ranged auto attack would be a devastating advantage for ARC, they'll be safe from AoEs and still hit and outshine the other melees.

                      If they'll get AA ranged attack they'll need a drastic damage and/or acc nerf, which will still bother people and they'll ask for free ammo, which will still put them at an advantage by still being out of AoE range which will lead to another nerf, followed by another waaahwaah campaign and so on.

                        Luckily Yoshi-P already stated that this will not be the case, that would be quite a strong boost for THA and CON if this was true.

                        I am still a little confused though, Haste in FFXI was a stat in it's own right that effected AA and spell recast timers whereas it doesn't sound like the effect of Haste is going to be so profound here at least in 1.18.

                        Not having played Archer I don't actually know how Multishot and Quick Nock work but these abilities sound like they boost Archers ranged attack rate. Does Archer already have two Speed Boost-esque abilities anyway?

                          I'm not big on Archers, and I'm not even sure that Haste existed before 1.18, but I suppose it's a wait and see situation.

                          I'm with Mal, in that Haste should not become such a dominant stat. I suppose it only makes sense, though, that melee players would want to attack faster, but perhaps it could be separated out from other stats so the player has to make a slightly tougher decision. Haste or accuracy/attack, rather than combinations of both.

                            It's been in the game since beta, but only in the form of LNC Speed Surge. I thought CON had it as a spell too but I was mistaken.

                            My main concern here is with the game being run by XI's old dev team, they'll ruin Ranged Attacks the same way they did in XI by making Haste too damn good while simultaneously gimping any solo ability because mobs don't just fucking stand around at the right distance to be shot at.

                            There is currently a glitch with their pathing that people have been using, getting mobs to chase them just outside their de-aggro range then turning around and shooting them, but I imagine that'll be fixed as it's a rather abusive exploit. More to the point, I shouldn't have to rely on any sort of shennanigans like that just to EXP.


                            They couldn't have just let us fire arrows point blank like most RPGs >_>

                              Speed Surge increases Stamina regeneration, currently. There really isn't a place for Haste when you dictate your own pace.

                                Speed Surge will allow you to auto attack faster post 1.18.
