Notice how they deliberately didn't show Archer...
I really don't like them taking out the Stamina bar, since it's just one more layer of uniqueness/depth that they are axing from the game to appease the mouth breathers -_-'
So long as we don't see a repeat of FFXI, I guess it's OK. Still not crazy about it though, as it feels like they really are trying to turn it into XI HD. Am I the only one who actually liked Komoto's ideas for the game, but just wish they'd taken more time with it?
What about pressing 1 over and over makes you more intelligent than people who want to automate it?
Do you/did you ever even play the game? It's a valid point, when it comes to farming weak mobs and you don't want to expend TP etc, and that's it.
Stop. Trolling.
By taking the stamina bar out entirely, we basically go right back to XI's gameplay, instead of having to balance all of your actions in battle according to your stamina.

Taking out the stamina bar, which to be honest was just a rehash of Rage/Energy from WoW, allows classes like Pugilist who NEED to keep spamming abilities as the vast majority of them only work when chained with something before it or only work as a response to something. I don't know how it would effect others but it would definitely make PUG main more appealing or into something that could actually DD.
Oh, I get that it helps PUG a tonne, and you're right - that class runs out of stamina incredibly quick - but most of the melee's do I find.
I think they could have maybe tweaked the rate of depletion of the gauge first, maybe make the basic attacks not consume any/very little.
By taking it out completely, we're right back to XI - just spam macros/hotkeys all day. Real exciting. Combat was one of the few things I genuinely liked about XIV, because it forced you to think fast and choose commands carefully, rather than just mindlessly repeating the same macros over & over like in XI.
It also added an interesting level of realism I haven't seen since Crono Cross (though it was kinda screwy in that game) that I found refreshing. In particular (and I know it's a fantasy setting and all but come on) it's a bit much watching 2-handers just swing repeatedly all-day long and never getting tired >_>
I guess it just seems to me that the game is losing yet another piece of it's flavor just to appease the masses. I get that they're trying to streamline things and make the game more appealing (they have to) but... maybe it's my inner artist that's crying out in rage here. Like, God forbid we try something new & unique and if it doesn't work 100%, tweak it a bit rather than scrap the whole thing.
From the look of it, taking out stamina will be part of an overhaul of the battle system in general as it will cause a lot of abilities to become "spammable". I personally am interested to see where Squeenix plan to take this and it's causes my interest in the game to go from "Meh, I'll play it if I can find people to play with" (RL friends quitting the game is what made me stop playing in the first place) to "I might actually give the game another go to check the patch out"

If you're willing to play I have a decent LS with an active 20+ members, on Besaid.

I recall that they promised that once Auto-Attack is fully implemented, we won't be able to abuse it and semi-afk fights.
I'm hoping that they didn't forget about that.
In most MMOs you already press a million keys during battle and it got annoying quick, I actually went back to clicking on a past MMO I tried, by aligning the icons in a manner that would allow me to click the skills by doing a quick comfortable mouse gesture, something that "felt" right was important when i organized my skills. Gesticulating with my fingers to do things is fine, but regular attacks just means more movement which doesnt actually mean its better. And I find it gets in the way of communicating with the party also... "Hey *press key*... guys.. *press key*.. I think ..*press key* there's a ...*press key* agro closing in *press key* ..." by the time i finish a sentence we're all dead cos no one else noticed lol ;P

Pretty much this and I love MMOs with robust macro tools. Warhammer Online had a great one where you could essentially turn all of the jobs into "one buttons does everything" due to it allowing you to set conditional triggers and what orders abilities would fire off, and even make abilities fire only in certain circumstances.
It freed up a hell of a lot of hotbar space too so you could have your main attack macro then have all of your defensive abilities close to where your hand would be.
Not saying I want that though. One buttons configurations make you really inflexible and only poor players used them as a crutch. I was just very impressed with that system really.
FFXI was a fine balance between auto attack and manual abilities/skills. (just some weapons should have shorter delay since it's sooo annoying missing with weapons like Greatswords and Scythes.)
Especially considering battles in mmorpgs commonly take more time and effort than rpg battles, mew.
