Someone in my ls got a Deaspected Crystal while we were farming Phaia today. Monsters around the world are beginning to drop Deaspected Crystals at low rates, as well as during levequests. These are "affronts to nature, divested of all aspect."
You can also obtain them through gathering.

Saw this on the official forums. Looks like GMs are appearing and buffing people.
Wow, I didn't log on today but now I'm definitely going to check all of this stuff out tomorrow. This is the kind of stuff I've been wanting to see since day 1!

I am loving this, kudos to SE for implementation of this, the fact that we are seeing hints of what is to come before the event makes it seem more real and generates excitement. I'm loving this, really I am.
It also opens us up to a lot more speculation, if the Grand Companies are re-forming could this be an introduction to more jobs (?), times of war could see (for example) the reformation of a Chocobo Knight division, for some Dark Knight shock toops? That would be pretty cool - and more to the point - relevant!

Keep in mind that, according to The Five Ages - An Eorzean Chronology, the history of Eorzea's many nations has been collected by Lewphon of Sharlayan and assigned a common dating system in order to bring it all together -- and we are currently living in the Sixth Astral Age.
My assumption is that Eorzea's historians change over to a new age whenever the world either falls into chaos, or recovers from it. When the world is consumed by darkness, an Astral Age's history is ended, the book closed, and a new book begun on the next Umbral age, and it continues as such until the darkness is defeated.
Considering that we have been in the Sixth Astral Age for 233 years, the next umbral age could begin any time between five minutes from now and infinity. We'll have to find some more clues.
If I had to guess, I'd say the Garlean Empire is about to make a move on Gridania and the Grand Companies of all nations are going to ally against the threat to Eorzea.
It could even explain why the crystals are becoming deaspected, as the story quests say
the Primal ones require the energies of crystals - and the beasttribes are in no position to share.
