Let me begin by wishing a happy new year to all players and fans of FINAL FANTASY XIV!

The last few weeks of 2010 were tumultuous times for us all, what with the announcement of the development team restructuring and multiple version updates. Still, I hope you are all enjoying your winter vacations and holidays, and had truly memorable Christmas and New Year's Eves and Days.

As part of the new direction promised, we here on the development and management teams have adopted four new keywords for FINAL FANTASY XIV: fun, live, reboot, and rebuild. Forgive our translators if these buzzwords seem a bit cryptic or cliché, but I am using these English words as-is in the Japanese, and insisted they use the same words for a global resonance.

To get things rolling right away, I am asking for your cooperation with our FINAL FANTASY XIV Player's Poll the First—a brief questionnaire being issued to give you the players another means by which to have your voices heard.

Well, I would be lying if I said I was writing only to wish you the best in the coming twelve moons. Truth be told, the realm is all aflutter just now—the air thick with anticipation and excitement. In fact, an ancient verse of prophecy was delivered to my person by a messenger from Eorzea not moments ago. But I've never been much of one for poems... Perhaps some of you will have more luck decoding it than I have.

I really think they are serious about making this game amazing. I can tell that just from reading the survey, they are almost willing to do anything to meet the needs and wants of the players. That to me says it all ^^.

They need to be. I have a feeling the old dev team simply did not put enough effort into the game and were riding on the fact that the name is Final Fantasy. The new team seems to be dedicated to a further extent. However, that's just my opinion based on closed beta testing 'till now. Hopefully Yoshida doesn't use all his steam in the first few months and we see things drop off.

I find this poll and the fact that they want more information from players very uplifting. The fact that "official forums" was a check-able box in the changes to lodestone is very good.

How is that a trick question? I think it was asked to players so they would know that SE is interested in changing some things the previous developers added. Like for instance how many leve quests you get on a daily basis. Things that could be a dramatic change or switch in the game and gameplay. I see it as them being honest lol.

It was basically asking if you would want to (or not want to) see changes that could be so significant that it will change/impact the fundamental gameplay.

I said I wouldn't mind ... however everyone here will need to know that it could go up to "reset" and that what you know now will be worthless after any types of those changes are made.

This just reaffirms my belief that we're playing (still) an Alpha version of the game, nevermind Beta.

Yeah it buts a pain in the ass to rank up from the start all over, and I'm pretty sure that'll cause alot of rage quitting.

I'd love the game to get a new start but I'm not willing to lose all my progress for that, even though I'm a loser and will still play but I'm pretty sure I won't be a crafter... I can't go through that again lol.

Also for any aspiring armorers:

At 38, you're officially in crafting heaven while making visors, they're high enough to give 280-350 a synth and you're high enough to just spam standard without looking at the orb and still succeed (didn't break any yesterday after 54 attempts) so... boo yeah!

Now all I need is a good audio book, and I'm good to go until surplus forces me to stop.

Oh and @50... 0/400,000 and you still get exp from synths but the progress bar wont move at all, so thats alot of wasted exp.

I'm gonna /wrists when they up the cap...

so um is FFXIV harder to level than FFXI?
