I think making things more fun would be a better solution. Which can be done by making party-leveling ideal.

regardless of how the leves end up, I still cant help but see them in a supplemental light. Maybe I am just being stubborn in that I want the game's combat to end up a lot like FFXI was.
No, I agree with you completely, because I'm not concerned about getting to Rank 50 asap either. It's not really the destination (okay, I care about that a little, but it isn't my main concern logging on) but more of the journey. However, I never touched upon Battle Regimen, because no one in any Behest I've been involved in has used it yet. This should indicate to SE that Battle Regimen is not easy to understand and is one of those very few things in the game that I would not miss if they got rid off. I would like them to do an enhanced version of FFXI's skill chain system instead. But maybe something more dynamic and hopefully more fun.

How about if they did a system in which you could activate an ability with a fairly lengthy cooldown and can only be used in groups. It would be a class restricted ability and use up 3,000 TP.

For example, maybe an Archer's ability called, "Pride of the Marksman" ... 3,000 TP cost and instant use and will be on a 90s timer. What it does ...

You activate this ability and it blows your TP to zero but shifts the 3,000 point into another bar (hey, they can then make this the new Battle Regimen ... the Battle Regimen TP) During that time, any ability you use which uses TP, will have an effect place on it which synergizes with other players that also use their move as well. For example, Marauder's "Cleaves of Horror". When the Marauder uses Trunksplitter and the Archer uses Puncture on top of that, their effects combine (say, against a seedling monster, armor pen AND bonus damage applies together) and does considerably more damage. Kind of like weaponskill. I think something like this would be easier to understand and the skill lies with coordination and finding the right combination of skills for the particular situation. There's enough variety to keep things refreshing and fun AND this all can be available only through grouping which solves the issue of having a need to group up. This allows the group to grind red monsters which helps with SP flow (so it mirrors that of Behest gains for the time and effort)

Another thing I thought about, though, was maybe have auras in the game for Behests and Group grinding. Here's what I thought ...

    -Behest

Depending on the number of people registered with the Battlewarden at the time of a particular Conquest activity, the appropriation system will spawn the correct level of monsters. It will also prevent any players from participating should they exceed the optimal range rank (see my previous indepth suggestions on improving combat and leve)

This means that people SHOULD GROUP UP for Behest and makes it impossible for those asshats who choose to go it alone despite the fact that a group is forming and keep them from exploiting or trying to screw it up for others. The monsters would be incredibly tough if a group of players are there and thus punishes "rogue" players.

    BUT ...

For players in a group during Behest, in aura is placed on them. It actually overwrites another type of aura which exists all over Eorzea outside of camps and cities (more on this below) The aura placed during Behest grants a favor to the players in the group which reduces incoming damage to a reasonable degree (so that tanks don't get squashed like bugs on a windshield) and the evasion is kept in check so that properly geared and ranked melee players can actually hit the mob.

    -General

There would be an aura placed on anyone who is in a group outside of a camp or city. This aura keeps the incoming damage in check and insures that the group can have a good chance fighting monsters of higher rank. This is necessary for them because fighting mid to low ranked monsters (compared with their current rank) will only grant them a trickle of SP. This aura will not exist for those who solo and this aura scales in potency depending on the number of people in the group up to a maximum (say, there's no more scaling beyond 8 players) This means that a raid isn't necessary and yet a duo of a husband-wife team can still enjoy benefits of a small group. Could go a long way in alleviating some of the issues IFF taken together with my prescription above.

I actually have a boat load of supplemental additions to my main changes. Maybe I should just go and develop my own MMORPG already... >.>

Re: What are your plans for leveling?

I gave up leveling fishing. Eww ...

Current plans for this month (I doubt I'll succeed)

        Get GLA to 30.
Get BSM & ARM to 30.
Get TAN, WVR, CRP & ALC to 25.
Get PGL & CNJ to 25.

After that, my distant future plans will be getting GLA, BSM & ARM to 40 and then whatever. My head hurts thinking too much. Easier to just play than plan ahead too far. Especially since Behest is so random for me.

I guess my plans for levelling are get back into the game first then figure out where I'm going from there XD

My main class is a Pugilist but I know it's going to take freaking ages to level because I don't really have any other classes levelled due to a lack of cash and gear (unless prices ahve gone down since the game started).

I am leveling fishing. I find the relationship between it and alchemy to be quite awesome.
