Am I the only one immensely disappointed that the goblins look identical to their XI counterparts?

Come on SE. Even flans have some variation between games, this is just lazy.

Mage gobs stayed the same, armored gobs mutated into hideous Kobolds.

Why?

And I see the Gla about to get stumped by the giant ram thing is wearing an armor that isn't in game yet, they better give me that tonight and it better be at my rank!

Essentially they're saying we're all smelly people due to the fact that we're at the machine slaving away on leves and not taking baths for days..

I think its they eat too many onions (like the french) and so fart often so they need the mask to block out their scent.

I was guessing that Coblyns were basically Goblin+Kobold, but now I'm not so cure.

You know what? They should have given the NMs Cleave so that people are more strategic when fighting them. Only the tank can stand in front, and the NMs have special moves that can hit their sides and back as well to make it so that they can't always be avoided.

Come one... Its been what? 10 years since SE has made its first MMO, and they still aren't making NMs very special?

well these are the first NMs, SE is being kind of soft, but I'm sure with feedback and stuff, they will add more challenging NMs, super AOEs and all.

These are not NMs per se ... they're factional leves. They're designed to be soloed and the difficulty can be set higher if the player/group wants it more challenging. Since these leves do not have a maximum (ceiling) rank restriction you'll see players who outrank these attempt at soloing them. Right now, most people are just doing various leves for SP gains and aren't particularly concerned with the rewards.

There's factional leves with NM starting at Rank 20 and every 10 ranks there's new ones, with factional credit cost increasing by 100 in each of those tiers. Not sure how much factional credits you're rewarded with with Rank 50 Battlecraft leves, but you can only get roughly 30% of the total credits in a given day for the particular tiered rank. It is easier to obtain these credits at lower level because a lot of under ranked players will "leech" off of higher ranked groups but at 50 it's pretty much a set amount and so you shouldn't see anyone attempting more than 1 of these factional leves every 72 hours at the most.

FFXI Goblins are too iconic to be radically changed. To go back to FFIX or FF goblins would only be disappointing.
