Leaving out a monitor, my rig (Dell) cost me about $900 last year. The only change was my GTX460 1gb and a new PSU that I got a few months ago. The game runs great, I can have it in background, work in Photoshop, watch anime, have FFXI update itself and IM and Vent all running simultaneously. Not that it happens all the time but it's nice that it can handle things perfectly fine.

When I was picking my card... it was a toss-up between yours and this:

Diamond 5770PE51GXOC Radeon HD 5770 OverClocked Video Card - 1GB GDDR5, PCI-Express 2.0, CrossFireX Ready, DVI, Display Port, HDMI at TigerDirect.com

I picked 2 of those instead. Crossfire X = teh shizznit

Only downside is their sheer size. Those mother****ers are huge.

Would make sense if you made your own computer. But I have a Dell PC that is both inefficiently designed for non-proprietary tech and for ease of access for non saavy users (Yes, you may argue the technical aspects of this statement, but believe me, Dell has never been friendly to non-Dell components making their way into their products and many times you're left fighting with their products in order to make your upgrades "fit")

My next PC will be one that I assemble myself with the usual off the shelf items instead of buying a pre-assembled unit from someone/company. I'm getting tired of these inferior parts breaking down in short order (suspiciously a few days after your warranty expires) and I would rather want to be in full control of at least the ability of knowing what went into my PC rather than having to place my entire trust in someone else/a company.

And god damn it Dell's products have gotten shittier with each passing year for the past 10 years.

                        Re: Selbina, where art thou?

                        haha

I don't mind too much if we overlap for no reason. I am going to get carp up to a dece level in the beginning and then drop it later on if I dislike it, and pick up goldsmithing (my secret love). Even though I love shields, and the idea of making a lantern shield gets me wet...

But regardless, I feel like the game gives us a lot of freedom on these choices. If only for the fact that there is no point to leveling anything. Oops, did I say that? I do like this game though

so to overview: next week after monday I will get on and grind carpentry while smoking drugs. Feel free to add me as a friend. =] yayy

I'm saying that making a lantern shield sounds like a cool idea to me

Lantern shield if FTW, cheap repair mat (1 square) and +5atk.

I've been looking for red/white enamels for days to make Iron Hoplons but I've yet to find any. /sadness

Bladed Lantern shield requires Blacksmith to make with Alc sub, which is bullshit since the mats are Lantern shield 2 iron ingots and 1 box of rivets.

Why do you need Alchemy to make a blade out of ingots and then stick it on the shield with rivets... this is crap.

Maybe... shield + sword is like a chimera of sorts. So yea, totally makes sense why you need alchemy!

step 1: steam the shield with your alembic
step 2: glue the sword onto the shield

MY question is, why do we need blacksmithing?

                                edit: attack +6
