oh wow they really worked hard. But I am even more amazed Archer is the class they reached rank 50 first (isn't that the most expensive and hardest/slowest war class to advance with?)

oh ya, but I would still think ammo dependant classes like Archers would be spending more time crafting for more supply of arrows (and extra time finding ingredients to start crafting those arrows) , than exp partying. ya other classes have to repair their weapons, but I would guess archers run out of ammo faster than melee weapon degrading with use. It's a theory.

You do realize that making gil in FFXIV is pretty darn easy right? And since the game is new there are no set parameters about what armor/weapon/arrows you should be using at certain levels.....yet. So people can walk around in starter gear for a long ass time and no one says a word. And archers can use nub arrows for a long time too and those sell for 3gil each. You can use around 1k of arrows in a good session and that would be only 3k gil. The thing that costs a lot is repairing your armor/weapons unless you've leveled up crafting to do so.

There will always be people who just grind, grind and ... grind. I've seen people with a few "busted" pieces and still doing leves. There's some singular mentality in a "hardcore" player in which they just keep banging their head on the wall until it gives away. The same kind of mentality that would cause players to keep using the same tactics on some NM for 18 hours before giving up.

Omg..that too...it drives me nuts. All my gear is within 5 levels of my characters JOB level but my son is walking around in level 28 gear on his lvl 17 gld. I tried to explain it to him but he takes it off, looks at his stats, puts it back on, and then boasts about how much vit/str/etc that it gives him. /sigh

That is the problem with giving people the ability to equip items that are higher than your level. I can see this eliminating most low to mid level armor...

It isn't giving him anything except a bit of defense. This is something akin to white-box fever that ran rampant through FFXI. They want to look like they're the best, even if they suck at the game.

I have been finding it hard to even find the will to log in. I went from 18 Lancer to 13 Conjurer, and it got boring again. The menus are just too damn slow, and I don't feel like I'm working towards anything. Sure there's the story line and all, but really I'm just grinding to fit into better gear to hit the same amount of damage on slightly higher level creatures. I know it's the same with almost every other MMO out there, but FFXIV is missing it's soul or something.

I can't imagine anyone getting home from work or something and getting excited to grind another level on FFXIV. if you think about it, the world is very tiny, and there's really no dungeons, BCNMs, group instances, or anything really fun to do that doesn't involve killing dodos and marmots over and over.

Yep a lot of people are there, unfortunately there are the people who figure if they get to endgame now as far as level is concerned they wont have to grind it out later...

Those same people then bitch and whine when the xp system is revised to make leveling less tedious then painting grass watching it dry followed by cutting it with scissors.

Maybe I should just wear a haubergeon/ash sword and grind away to 50 with my conj/carp friend and just repair our shit every 3 days for "teh lulz"

Nah, I didn't take a single screen shot after beta ended. since nothing made me go "OH SHIT I NEED TO SHOW THIS TO EVERYBODY" yet. (and it'll be obsolete once a champion creates a model viewer)

What I would really like is a sidekick to pester me into doing stupid crap like exploring zones just for the fun of it since I wouldn't bother on my own if I'm not gaining anything from it. (a flaw in me I guess)

Now to find a spazzy old friend and toss them a guest pass.

Sadly I started out as a main crafter... then I wanted self sufficiency and started playing a DoW class.... a part of me died on that day. I kinda wish I stuck with my original plan of not playing DoW till musketeer came out.

But on an unrelated note it was nice to have fun crafting, people I play with all had their chosen professions and we helped each other out and we would laugh and joke about good times talking on vent and having fun... Till we had to start leveling other professions... and other professions to help leveling those professions to make stuff for those professions that was needed for the original profession.... One person (who I wont name) in my LS last night basically told me... "I'm sick of this shit for now on all I'm gonna do is gather and sell the stuff I find" Which I can't blame her, because she doesn't have to raise insert job here so she can cast a fishing line.

Unfortunately though to do the main story line if I remember correctly it's mandatory that you have a DoW to 20 so not leveling one is out the question anyways.
