  • Food Effects!

I found this while scouring the forums on YG, and thought people here might like it. Here is the link: Dat Mining - Food Stats and Their Effects :: Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV, FF14) :: ZAM

It is said that you should use the food closes to your rank, so if the food is rank 15, you should be rank 15 or higher in order to get the best results!
((Copy and pasting doesn't work too well, so I am not going to copy them. sorry for those who can not aces the site.))

    Re: Food Effects!

So, does this mean that you won't get any benefits from consuming food that is of a lower rank than your optimal? For example, eating a dish that says, "Optimal Rank 15" and you're at level 55, does this means that the food gives zero benefits?

      Re: Food Effects!

It's no different really from the scaling food effects change that was done in XI, so this shouldn't shock or surprise anyone.

I'm more interested in knowing the effects of each dish, particularly the racial bonuses.

Well, good luck discerning that! LOL With the tidbits SE throws us it could be a while before we know the full story.

I do have a FFXIV guide coming from Japan, it probably doesn't have much in it though. I believe its a Jump guide and they are usually light on content and high on graphics. Besides, I can't read the damn thing so I doubt it will be much help! lol If I see anything worth talking about I'll scan and post pics.

I have the Mook guide here at home and it doesn't seem to give out any ground breaking information. I'm awaiting something other than Brady ... but I know that they're deep in SE's butt and probably are the only guys will come out with anything.

What I am seeing is if its optimal rank 15, and your level 55, then you would get the level 15 benifits.

And it would be the other way around. If you took rank 55 food, and your rank 15, you would get up to rank 15 benefits.

If that's the case then it's not exactly scaling, is it? I meant Malacite's response. This isn't scaling, this is a WYEISWYG (What You Eat Is What You Get) And rather than allow low level players to consume higher ranked foods, you should just prevent them from doing so.

It's virtually the same though. As opposed to having a food start off low and get more powerful as you level up and increase your base stats, you have foods for set ranks instead. So rather than getting the max benefit of a lower food, you simply move on to the next one appropriate for your rank. I actually like this better as it means you don't have to juggle any stupid % based maths as it's clearly outlined for you. You are X Rank, so you use Y food.

I see no relevance at all to the discussion at hand. Most games out there follow the rule I laid out. It also makes it less complex and therefore less bugs/lags/etc. You really need to think in terms of development and making overtly complicated systems less complicated. Less complicated means (1) less time spent figuring what went wrong (2) faster turn around on fixes, patches (3) more time to develop in areas where you need that development time.

Counter-argument to Aeni: S-E seems to have nevertheless averted this similar scenario, anyway.

We Dalmascans are pretty stupid like that. Without the experience points it's a wonder we can wipe our own ass.

Lulz... totally forgot about that in FFXII. Although to be honest, it just requires a level (not license or anything like that) It's the same with any gear. You don't want people wearing Scorpion Harness at level 1 for preciesly the same reason with food. It's a balance issue.

I just wish s-e would of added the word itchy to the part where it says "your armor stops being uncomfortable" Because it would of been much more hilarious to hear... "Your armor is no longer itchy and uncomfortable"

Side note being a lancer in the game I have to say... thank god they at least have scaling in or else I would have to go from 9-16 using the same weapon, since the process of making a feather spear is so ungodly horrible that I think the person may of jabbed his own eyes out plucking the feathers from the hide of a dodo.
Fighting without knowledge of the battle is like wacking at a tree with a rusty sword badly in need of repair.

P.S. ..if a male mithra is ever made available for this game I don't care what level I am I would start over in a heartbeat. Just something about playing a female as a male that bothers me.. Not for the dex.. but because I like cats
