It also seems that crystal selling is also quite lucrative right now as some sections of the crafting community do not enjoy the HELM aspect and seem to purchase alot of their crystals. This is a bit of action that the casual crafter can get into with relative ease as they won't be burning all there crystals trying to level their crafts at the same rate.

I'm still stuck with using shards for now but I've been somewhat diligent with keeping my stocks up. I have Earth and Fire at around 500 each and Wind hovering around 400 with the rest at or around 300. I go through these a lot and all of my earnings in the general leves go to keeping this stock up. I have a *lot* of basic ingredients to turn into mats and have not yet found a good block of time to really dig in and just grind the crafting.

The only real need for crystals for me is Fire (for smelting) but other than that I've been avoiding purchasing crystals unless I stumble on really, really cheap deals (i.e., Ice Crystals for 300 each)

lol I wish Ray, I wish...

I will say that its hold on me is no where near the hold FFXI had. I'd get up in the morning and be thinking of what I need to get done in FFXI. I'd think about it on and off all day and prepare my battle plan. With FFXIV, I think about it once a day and its more like "I really need to work on my job level and my Leathercrafting....meh, I'll get to it later."

No worries, I'll see you when I see you, it's not a huge deal. I still have a handful left and have been careful in planning out my crafting. Although lately I haven't gotten to play as much since I've been spending my evenings working out homework with my oldest daughter and placating the "tewwible tewwor" of my 1 year old. My wife tried to weasel her way out last night trying to leave me with the girls to go out and I said, hell no, take the baby so it would be a reminder to get your ass home in a reasonable hour.
