There's a noticeable drop in population in the evenings when I play and everything seems to indicate that the Japanese players are quitting in droves. I see many EU players on the time that I am on (They are 12 hours ahead which would mean that when I play, it's almost lunchtime where they are) You can tell the difference, usually due to character names, which are distinctive, but also the language spoken. I've recognized (in inadvertent says or even shouts) Italian, German and Portuguese. Did not see any Spanish spoken yet. There are also a few players from the Philippines and Thailand.

It's very interesting who is continuing to play and who isn't. By and large, EU players seem to be sticking around and have been hitting the game hardcore and the JP players seem to have a few like that but that number is dwindling with each day. The wards used to be crowded before the patch but (at least in Limsa) the retainers are quite sparse and the stalls are frequently found empty.

Maybe Japanese players will come back once the game is beta tested and they can play on the PS3 though. So there's still hope.



Otherwise I may not even get to play the game. In, you know, 1 year and 5 months. <_<;

I think there was some campaign with the JP players on the bbs. Something about leaving the game after the 30 days to show SE their displeasure. I have noticed a very noticeable drop in the people standing around with bazaars and retainers. Tonight I was doing crafting leves right before the servers went down and there were several JP talking in camp. Right before the server went down one said "FUCK SE AND THE SHIT GAME!" It cracked me up.

Oh crap. I forgot tonight was maintenance. Thought I'd come home after dinner and settle down in for some crafting. Ugh. Oh well ... I'll go poke my nose in Cataclysm and go screw around.

I'll be honest with you. The PS3 players are apprehensive about what is going on right now but they also realize it's still a few months away till release. But right now, the PC players (at least the JP ones) are very angry and as TGM mentioned, have gone on some kind of boycott. This probably explains the recent dearth of players on my time.

Not that I have anything to complain about ... being able to move around the wards and craft without lagging is a good thing. However, despite the lack of players, the inventory interaction STILL LAGS LIKE A MOFO and it's rubbing me the wrong way. I think I've found a work around for some of the random disconnect in the transaction but I can't figure out how not to have the dialogue boxes just randomly disappear.

Actually, maintenance is over.

The version updates notes are up, as well. Doesn't seem like anything too spectacular this time.

Honestly, EU is so neglected at times and I love when they actually do get something before others and then people start whining about it! lol Glad to see SE throw them a bone....even if it was a tad late.

Well we did finally get FFXIII, XIV and Four Heroes at the same time as the US (give or take a day or two) so I think Squeenix is finally realising that there's an entire continent with a video game market the size of the US that nobody in Japan ever seems to want to exploit (except for Konami with their Soccer games).

Then again it's not just Japanese MMOs that do this. American MMOs are notorious for it as well. American WoW, Eve and Warhammer Online players get a ton of stuff people over here will never get. Warhammer Online is the main offender as servers are now region free yet the American servers get all of the event bonuses and better customer service. And they wonder why the European Servers are now empty

Then again it's not just Japanese MMOs that do this. American MMOs are notorious for it as well.

Just be glad you're not living in China. They just got Wotlk expansion. LOL

The 1st week there were around 2500-3000 on w/e I was on, now its around 1300-1800 on Besaid, so its kinda like how FFXI is now on most servers.

Also there have been alot of RMTs lately "Bes lola, Bes xqw, Bes nhg etc" with the same 2 char models Lala F/M roaming around camp bearded rock, but I didn't see any that aren't wearing starter gear or higher than R4, maybe they're just finishing missions then scraping the characters. since they're charging 5.9$ per 30k gil.

No, your game time (time spent logged on) is limited, but the games itself isn't illegal.

The RMT aren't doing well this time around because of a lack of in-game mail. The state the game is in is driving away RMT. If this is what SE was intending with the game, then they have been successful so far.

FFXIV is coming out in China...... albeit on separate servers housed in China. Chinese IP's are also blocked from all other servers but that isn't going to matter. There are ways of getting around that shit, ask the RMT how to do it. lol
