    "I couldn't care less" sounds just fine if you have any sense. Just because people have been getting it wrong for years doesn't mean that people should stop caring about getting it right. ANYWAY, not really relevant to the thread.

      There's nothing wrong with either, but the disagreement isn't worth having.

        Ahaha, and all these years here I was thinking "I could care less" was the moderate version of it and "I couldn't care less" was like the extreme version of it.

        Like:

        "Do you mind if I lot that Leg abjuration?" "I guess I could care less..."

        "Do you mind if I lot that Hare meat?" "I couldn't care less dude."

        What can I say, english can be very confusing at times. <_<;

        But to stay on topic, is it just me or the Tsunami of bad rep against XIV is getting stronger and stronger? <_<;

          Solution: just get rid of the contraction. "I could not care less!"

          And idioms don't usually mean the exact opposite of what they say unless they are intentionally sarcastic.

          It's very hard for me to view this as anything less than a degradation.

          And speaking of degradations, boy, FFXIV sure totally looks like it's going to kill FFXI right about now.

            Likewise ending a polite request with "please" could be literally interpreted an appended command to please you, as opposed to the extended form of "if it please you" but it's silly to insist people use the archaic extra three syllables when both expressions will be interpreted by normal people as having the same meaning.

            And I said this disagreement wasn't worth having, but I can't sleep so

              There is...for most keys. However some are locked and can't be changed at all, severely limiting the customization options for the pure keyboard controls.

              Except it's not. You can view Bazaars at a distance like in XI, but any time I went to buy something I had to be right up close within trading range. Which is impossible to do if you're currently searching in said person's Bazaar. I've literally checked people, saw something I wanted but then couldn't buy it because I was "out of range" despite looking right at it in the bazaar at the time. Of course, that's not even bringing up the bug where you suddenly and randomly lose the ability to target certain people. That makes buying from them real fun(read: impossible).

              As said by others F8 in XI instantly lets you target the closest NPC to you. In group play, especially when fighting groups of mobs, it meant quick and easy targeting for things right in front of you. In XIV, you can't do that, and tabbing starts you off usually on the thing to your left, so you have to scroll through people places and things to target the monster that's smacking you in the face.

If they made everything customizable, it only increases complexity and the need for more memory and thus even more slowdowns.
              Except when you resize the Chat window you really have no place to put it because those things that can't be moved are in the way. I tried to make it look like the old school XI window...because I greatly prefer that to a little box on the corner of the screen (especially how you could escape out of it when no one was talking), however your action bar and the NPC chat stuff overlap the box making it hard to see. I'd also love it if I could shrink the minimap, get rid of the shortcut buttons on the bottom right corner and stack the HP/MP bar instead of having it go across in on long line, but the UI customization is just too limited for how cluttered it all is. In XI, while you couldn't change anything, it still all fit nice and neat and kept the screen clear when there wasn't anything going on. In XIV, you can kinda move some stuff...but not really, because if you do, it'll just get blocked over by the stuff you can't move.

              Which is a major oversight that they should have fixed from XI. In XI I can understand why it happened, it was a JP game first and then ported to other areas. Now, the game was released globally and JP is the only language that can really work well with the limited text, while the other...three or four(?) languages can barely make a complete sentence. The issue is compounded even worse now that people can have super long names which takes away from your character input limit.

              ....wait wut? You're really saying that the slow player loss from the past 4 years (technically 5 since the game is still losing players) was because it "wasn't growing"? Are you sure it wasn't because the game was getting older? I don't know if you noticed, but the game has changed and grown a lot in those past 4 or 5 years, you know, the latter part of an MMOs lifetime where it dwindles in popularity? ToAU brought with it major changes in how the game was played, WoTG did the same and even more. Once CoP finished up things started coming and changing hand over fist for this game, how could anyone say it didn't "grow"? Some old things didn't change, but a lot of old things have, that just screams "growth" to me.

              It's like the whole big issue from PW and the "Fatigue" system. They're actual problems, but they just get blown far out of proportion. SE's PR guys suck hard, especially when it comes to their MMOs. So word of mouth about the problems starts to spread, people twist the info making it seem worse and worse and then we get this "wave" of terrible doom and naysaying that's never fully quelled even when things do change and stuff gets fixed.

              There are people who still think SE put a system in the game that lets you only play "8 hours a week" because word of mouth about how "terrible" the fatigue system spread, but the truth about how it's not actually a big deal at all just kind of stays within the community of people who actually play the game.

                  I've already explained why that is not the case. It's an idiomatic expression that culturally literate people interpret as having the same meaning as the original phrase even though its literal deconstruction doesn't match, much like the word please. If you're not refuting the argument then all you're saying is "nuh uh."

                    I hate hate hate the chat window. (I hate chat in this game PERIOD. Hell mIRC is fucking more intuative and its FIFTEEN YEARS OLD.) Yes its nice that you can resize it and it would be deplorable if you couldn't. But having it stuffed off in the corner just makes me cringe. (And there is no where to move it and expand it where it won't be in the damn way either.) I hate having just 2 tabs for viewing too. I want my party, tell, and ls tabs back. Even with using filters, shit still gets lost in communication and the antiquated way of scrolling up and reading through EVERYTHING to find that one line that you are missing....AAAAAAAAARGGGGGH! And WTF is up with having to click on the damn window to do shit!? That is annoying as hell! And is there a way to change different chats into different colors? You know like they did in FFXI? If there isn't, WHY TAKE THAT OUT!? You know that a good portion of your new players are going to be people that played FFXI and were used to having their different inputs set to certain colors. Didn't you think, at any point in development, that it might be a good thing to let people adjust chat colors in this one too since they were so used to it in FFXI and loved it????? Since my chat box is regulated to the corner and I don't have individual tabs for the IMPORTANT STUFF, I would like to be able to adjust the chat colors so that when I'm busy I would actually see the bright color I could set ls chat to!

                      No, it is the same as saying 'If you think x you've got another thing coming." It is a mistake, one that perpetuates because people are to lazy to think about what they are saying, instead choosing to mindlessly spout off things. A guy dressing it up in some academic way does not change the fact that you are expressing yourself incorrectly, that you are not saying what you think you are saying.

                      'If it pleases you' is an archaic use for a request, the modern use of please is as a modifier on its own to denote a polite request. Nothing in the phrase 'could't care less' is archaic, neither is 'could care less' a more correct or modern term. Both phrases are modern and use the modern forms of the words used, which makes one correct and the other incorrect.

                      If you could care less, you do care about the matter at hand, if you don't and said you could you aren't listening to the words you're saying and are therefore an idiot.

                          I like the way that I do not need to be war/magic for the storyline leves so far (At least so far around 10 on my second character) and that I can kill mobs with a pathetic 1 dmg stone throw. But I'm concerned at 20 because the game kept hnting that "you need to hone your combat skills". If they allow my botanist to actually use the scythe as a weapon then I'll be cool with combat. If I'm still stuck throwing magic 1dmg stones then I'll be disappointed.

                          I haven't played FFXI in a while and you may be right about there being no limitation on actually purchasing (as long as you're within range of viewing the bazaar) This could also be a bug in that there shouldn't be a limitation on purchasing from a bazaar if you can view it. But then again, this may be intentional, perhaps to reduce "localized" lag when certain number of players are clustered in a very small area (maybe in the game's frame of reference, a diamater of 5 malms?)

                            It is SO annoying to be running after a person in a crowded area to keep up with them while trying to type a tell to them saying "Please stop I want to buy something >.>" especially after you already fell behind them because you had to stop to check what they had in their bazaar.
