I've posed about it before and it was mostly regarding it as a crafting resource. They've gone over and beyond that and are now including a searchable database that tracks ... retainers! I can't vouch for the integrity of the data nor can I answer any questions regarding the potential harm this may attach to your game client, but I'm assuming it's similar to services offered by Wowhead.
It's still early on and there's probably issues but I managed to locate a retainer that was listed here selling a bronze haubergeon in the Ul'Dah wards so I can attest that it does work (to some degree)
