When I put up the money for repairs do I have to have the materials for it or is this on the onus of the repairer? If so ... yeah lulz ... how do I know the value of the mats.

Good concept ... poorly executed imo.

The person who's doing the repairs has to have the materials to do it. And it's up to the guy doing the repairs how much he's going to charge, I suppose. It even tells you if you look at the repair tutorial at the npc. o:

He can't tell you how much he's charging you because you're AFK. I'm talking about using your Bazaar for repairs (which is an option) and while you're AFK, supposedly, if the price is right, someone will do the repairs for you. The problem I was seeing was that people were offering as little as 300 gils to repair a chainmail when everyone and their grandmothers know that 600 gils was the bare minimum for that repair for the material's cost (Vendor price) and that you still need to provide an incentive for the player to even bother with the repair. That's at least 800 to 1,000 gils.

So wait... You don't only need to pay to have your items repaired, you must have the correct materials to do it as well?

Omg... I sure do hope to hell SE changes their current bazaar system, or even put in an AH, or its going to be hell to find mats to repair stuff.

Also, don't you run out of inventory with having to carry around repair stuff and stuff for other classes?

SE touts the game as casual friendly blah blah blah but its still a time sink and even though, in the beginning, you don't need multiple equips to swap you still need to carry shit with you. Miners/Harvesters gear, a couple jobs gear, repair items (if you have a smith/armorer in the pt), etc.

Also, the person doing the repairing needs the item to repair your gear. You just give them money.

But the person might not have it, and you will probably have to supply them with it.

And of course it poses the other question on what is "fair" fee. As an armorer in beta I refuse to repair anyone's gear for 150 gils. And that was with inflated leve rewards. I think that's a slap to the face right now when people are either woefully ignorant or purposely disingenuous with putting up hardly any money and expect people to give them a repair for essentially no fee.

Have you also noticed the plethora of players in-game expecting and sometimes demanding other players give them shards/crystals w/o paying for it? They even use the translation and then add the {help me out!} which I think is ridiculous.

I honestly don't repair things for people unless the reward is equal or greater to the value of the item I have to use to repair. I figure it's a free skill up, so why not. (And sometimes they will have the item that you need to repair the gear as the reward instead of gil. That's fine, too. That way I'm not losing anything.) However, if they beg for it or whatever... Hell no. If you're an LS-mate that I know isn't a flake, I'll do it for free.

Haven't noticed the begging for crystals, though. I begged one of my LS for lightning shards / crystals, but I offered obnoxious amounts of gil in return. lol

Your retainer has 80 slots and can sell 10 items in their bazar so you can have 10 slots for selling and 70 slots for storage.

Yea, so I've noticed that my weapons are deteriorating like crazy fast and I didn't know how to repair them until I stopped playing yesterday. Wowsa!

It's definitely cheaper to repair your own weapons and armor, if you can. 3k for a repair I can do for myself, for free.
