I have zero sympathy for anyone's frustrations regarding this game right now.

I always have a good laugh when someone says something like this on a public forum. Good luck with that! lol

And even if they "fix" the bazaar system with a searchable database, if its as clunky as the other controls that will be so much fun....not.

The Bazaar and Retainer system, even with a searchable Database or Organized Wards, will still be a terrible system. The entire market ward concept in and of itself is absolutely terrible, from both a gameplay and game immersion standpoint. If they really wanted a working player to player, non AH market system, the best way to go would be instanced housing with searchable player shops. I know I've said this before (possibly in this very topic) but that's the easiest and most efficient way to add a player based economy without relying on an AH system.

Which is tantamount to an Auction House So, people who don't want an AH but are expressing an idea for one strikes me almost as funny as the Tea Partiers claiming we should eliminate social programs and yet think the government is responsible for the welfare of the eldest section of the population.

They're adding search engines. They've announced it. There is little point to bitch about the lack of of them when we know they were coming. This is an MMORPG, blatantly rushed to market and one you were apparently eager to buy despite knowing that fact. You got what you paid for - a rushed MMORPG.

So don't act surprised they're getting to what you consider "basic" features right now. Back when PS3 gamers were saying they were rushing this, you PC guys were more than willing to leap to SE's defense so you could get your greedy little hands on it as soon as possible. I have zero sympathy for anyone's frustrations regarding this game right now.

And once they do add search engines, the next complaint will be walking to vendors. Your complaint will be that its just like 2010 now. You look up the deals and then move to a physical place to purchase them. THE HORROR, THE HORROR!

Well besides the fact that my rant (and yeah i was bitching, but hey it's 2010 and i'm on the internet, it's cool) was based around the fact of SE not including an AH/search system in their game, like they should have (I hope we can all agree they should have...or maybe that's the point of this thread ...hmm)

Dak stated that they don't have the internet in eorza, to which my response was your right, and that's something we have to deal with, but me using our Real life year as a point of refrence was that in this day and age, IN REAL LIFE, buying FFXIV is like buying a calculator without the ability to divide numbers.
An AH/Search system for bazzars is something we've come to expect in an MMO because it makes enjoying the game easier. Running water makes your life easier, public transportation makes your life easier, along with thousands of other things that most 1st world countries appreciate (albeit take for granted often).
I'm sure it wasn't SE's intent to release "a 3rd world MMO" but that's exactly what they did, and that was the point i was trying to make.
Yes I read that they will be getting a search system/ward revision (asap, i hope) but when Corprate SE asked Artistic SE how soon they could release, Artistic SE should have damn well known that "3rd world" MMO would fail. I mean, that's these peoples job, and if they cared enough about their labor (and i can't imagine how frustrating it must be to be a software developer, especially for a highly highly anticipated MMO like 14) they would have fought "Corprate SE" tooth and nail to make sure they didn't "put a big smear across their mona lisa"

Again, not super related to the discusion of 14 having an AH or not, but its this train of thinking (be me wrong or be me right) that was why i was opposed to the thought of NOT having an AH.

Anyone that has played WoW and dabbled in end game content should be shocked by the lack of convenience features in FFXIV. Even when I returned to FFXI after playing WoW for a couple years, I noticed many things that could be improved by applying some concepts from WoW.

I honestly enjoyed FFXI more because of the skilled community and challenge involved but there is a difference between making the game challenging and making doing trivial things in game challenging.

I really need to start seeing some gameplay changes if I'm gonna keep giving SE my money.

You have a manservant whose entire purpose is to do menial BS for you like stand around with a bag icon so that you can spend your time doing stuff that's actually fun. How hard would it be to tell your retainer to run around to all the stalls and see if anyone's selling X item and for what prices? No magic internet required. "Hey, that's a decent price. Go fetch, lackey!" Bam. Done.

With the menus being god awful slow, the fact that 2-3 wards are packed, and you have to load a certain amount of bazaar shops at a time, and search through every single one, it takes me around an hour to even find an item that I'm searching for. I mean, if I had the time to piss around and search every single shop, that's fine, now try finding a DEAL on that item, and you're in for some time wasting.

4 hours of programming homework, a 5 page research essay, and enough time to spare for 1-2 hours of FFXIV, and 1 of them has to go towards finding a fang harpoon head. D;

Ya, I've been looking for my next tier weapons for 2 jobs for TWO days. I found one but the guy wanted an obscene amount of gil for it and I am too stubborn to give in to the rapeage.

I'm nearing lancer rank 17, and I really don't want to be stuck with this Halberd any longer. I wish someone was able to make Bronze or Brass Spears or something, but nobody seems to have em.
