but the doors in areas like the damn Assault Mission counter or the Runic Portal were a huge pain in my ass. Ugh. Annoying! I don't even play this game and I'm annoyed by that!

And it's always amusing how when coming back from Nyzul, those doors are often both open AND closed. I think they're the only doors in the game that I've seen be visibly both open and closed.

Considering the amount of data XI has to handle in places like Aht Urgan you'd think they would try to get rid of pointless additional bandwidth loads like the state of doors.

Just let the client handle that, SE.

Oh wow the number of SE players on my server has made the game crazy to play. Having a full five second delay between selecting an attack and the attack actually happening is NOT fun at all.

Hopefully when all the free trial kiddies have gone back to WoW the server load will be more sane, as well as the typical city chat. It's gone from "People using it as a general trade channel" to "People using it to troll the roleplayers"

Well you don't have to target them at least in FFXIV. They automatically open when you walk up to them.......that is if there isn't lag and you end up standing there waiting...and waiting...and waiting...

Ya it was nuts last night in Ul'Dah on my server. I didn't travel anywhere else so I don't know about that but I'm sure that it was probably the same. I unfortunately logged out at the Adventurer's Guild and when I logged in last night I had the Black Screen of Loading forever and a friggin day.

I think FFXIV generally just needs a lot of improvements to how fast things are. Logging in sometimes takes forever and a day, and my computer isn't the best, but it's not exactly terrible either. Selling things to an npc shop almost makes me want to cry sometimes as well, just having to go through so many menus for absolutely everything in-game is a bit of a pain.

And I think every shop with a door should just have them stay open all the time. My brother and a group of Lalafel were sitting outside the goldsmithing guild's door for 10 minutes because it wouldn't open for them, so I had to come and stand in front of it to let them in. xD

Oh god ya...the hoops they make you jump through to synth and buy/sell stuff and browse bazaars......its awful and clunky and gets old REALLY fast.

Shouldn't this be a wish for SE to make the game playable with larger numbers of people in the same area than it was on XI instead of wanting people to leave because the game is poorly made?

They are finally using broadband, and with the hefty requirements needed to run the game it should be able to handle far more players on screen than it's predecessor.

Unless I'm missing something here that is.

It was so bad (even at 1am PST) due to all the Europeans trying to make Palamecia their own. It wasn't the Japanese so much as all the Germans and Italians just swarming Ul"Dah and the leve areas.

I was working on the Dodo leve and out of nowhere ALL SIX of them came after me when I was just barely within visible range of the leve target area. Luckily, I had just put on my Hermes so I had a full duration on that, and I kited all 6 around this hill. I would separate one out carefully, and attempt to kill it and would usually make it out with barely 100 health left. Kept doing this till there were 3 left and then they mysteriously stopped. But when I killed one of them, the other two gained a boost advantage and I had to take a few cheap shots while maintaining distance from them.

What was really hilarious was a train of people attempting to help me and not realizing they cannot target leve quest monsters if they're not in the same party. And all the Japanese players were just standing there, watching, "wwwwwwwwwwwwww"ing the whole time. Some of them tried to place themselves in the path of the Dodos hoping to slow them down.

It was an epic affair lasting roughly 25 minutes without me dying. I had to avoid a large dragon that somehow got loose in the area (the one that hits you for 4,000 dmg) That was a crazy leve quest.

it's more of a wish that Squeenix open up more servers than anything else. I miss being on a peaceful, low pop server that would load almost instantly

I left Midgardsormr for Hades in FFXI because it was too populated. There's issues with servers being overpopulated and right now SE risk losing players due to problems with server stability, server access and playability more than they do with a low population issue. Besides, with leves and more casual friendly systems in place, I doubt low population would be a problem.

Here's mine, and it's a doozey not because of any one thing that SE did with FFXIV, but because of my personal hobby of Collecting and generally appreciating every thing Final Fantasy.

I have gotten involved in the main quest, and It is so awesome (grandania anyway) that I'm going to suck up the fact that SE released a game 6-10 months before they should have. Had they waited until Spring time of next year, after Cataclysm was spent, and old news. Had they worked out the bazillion bugs and added in features that every MMO should have in the year 2010.
I'm going to keep giving them my money, and i'm going to silently rage while they sit back and laugh at their
half ass product sucking on my wallet, and i'm such a sucker I'll continue to let it happen.

Had they put some resources into an active GM community that searched out and fought Real money trading, instead of leaving out a system that should have been in the beta, I might not feel like such a sap.

As it stands... I'm a chump, and I know and willingly accept it. Even though I don't like it. I feel like a crack addict, instead of a True fan who appreciates the artistic nature that creating something like FFXIV is.

500k gil for 40 bucks..... give me a fucking AH already SE. Your market ward system has failed.

I agree with you about the main story quest. It's pretty damn awesome for Ul'dah as well. Though after part 3, it starts the joint missions that involve all 3 nations, or at least that's what I've read. It pissed me off that I have to level Lancer another 5 times to see more!
