Or they could have delayed the PC version so those who do not have a high end PC could play it at the same time instead of letting PC users get waaaaaayyyyy ahead of the PS3 users.

This is an MMORPG... every second your not playing your "falling behind" and if you really want to look at it like that, playing an MMORPG is a bit unhealthy for that type of mindset.

That "PS3 will be behind" argument is so old and overused its sad, if you dont have a PC that can run FFXIV, I am sorry that you have to wait, but its not SE's job to cater every friken person.

PS3 version will come, when its ready, not SE's fault that the PS3 is goofy as hell to program for.

Yeah. Kinda surprised people disregarded the entire first post of this thread (where it clearly states the servers open on the 21st at 6PM PST) and actually tried to argue against when the game goes live. Except Dak, who knows what's going on.

Also, once again, I was told by a rep from ebgames/gamestop that the ship date is tomorrow and it arrives the day before the 22nd. Which is, yes, the 21st. It's always been like this when I've pre-ordered MMOs from them. Believe it or not, I don't care. Just simply letting you all know what I was told, without even asking, while I was trying to update my card information.

Mostly just annoyed by the fact people didn't read the first post by Freelancer, which is the basis of the thread.

oh I read it, and yeah the servers may go live at that time, but it does not change the fact that the game is street dated for the 22nd

Amazon.com said that if the product qualified it would have it as an option and I'm just not seeing it. Then they told me because I pre-ordered my CE copy weeks in advance, that I do not qualify. They told me you had to have ordered it in the period betwen 11 days and 5 days before release date to qualify (11 days being when they finally - according to the story they're telling me - received absolute confirmation by SE on their release plans)

I'm not very happy with how things have turned out. What's odd is they also had to throw in that bit about "because you're in Hawaii, you don't qualify" ... except for one thing. I ordered my CE copy of SC2 and had it shipped normally since I wasn't expecting it to come soon. Instead, it arrived THE DAY the servers went live.

I'm getting tired of this inconsistent service from Amazon.com but going to EBGames is worse since they rob Mother Theresa, Helen Keller and the Pope with regards to shipping.

Yep, if you don't pre-order during the actual time they have the shipping promo on, then you don't get it. I've been down this road with them and thats why I wait till a month or two before release and then I log on every week and see if they are running a promo. Best Buy has pre-orders but they don't put the shit on the shelves until a day or two after release sometimes. And Gamestop is its own little piece of hell, I loathe the place with a passion. I can't tell you how many times I've pre-ordered but then go in and they don't have a copy for me. If you ever find a place thats perfect, PLEASE let me know because I sure the heck haven't. lol

So I pre-ordered the CE over a month ago at a Gamestop location not in my area. Will I be able to claim my CE from my local store as long as I show a receipt or some sort of proof?

Probably not. They order a certain amount of the game based on preorders. Sometimes they order more, sometimes they don't.

Absolutely not. I asked once. There were no Gamestops near me so I pre-oredered at one that was 35 minutes away. Then before the game came out, they built one 5 minutes away. So of course, I wanted to get it from the closer GS but they don't allow that. (The amount of games they receive depends on pre-order count and how many games the store moves counts towards how many are shipped to them...blah blah blah) So I pre-ordered with the closer store and went and cancelled at the other one.

People camped for Metallica tickets (here in Honolulu a while back) 3-4 days before it even went on sale. That really is tame in comparison to other situations, like teen girls camping for Twilight tickets or Trekkie fans in line for that most recent release.

Oh yeah and iPhone 4 ... that's as fresh in memory as you can get.

Waiting until I get my XIV code put in. The beta account thinger for XIV is still listed in my account, and I don't want to randomly lose it when I register for XIV... 'Cause God knows with SE.

Apparently Amazon.com had a change of heart and shipped my copy via FedEx 2 day and I should be getting it on the 23rd.

This is why I'm so confused. Like a woman who got slapped one day and then the next day I get taken out to a nice and expensive dinner. This is borderline schizophrenia.
