I am sure the people @ planex thinks FFXIV will be the next wow. I have spot WOW mouse, wow keyboard and mouse pad...but a router? that is new.

Hmm I'm in the market for one and my last one cost $150 so the price isn't bad. I just want to see the specs before I commit to a purchase like that. But there are a lot of good ones locally so it would have to be pretty impressive.

Good Routers are 100+, but this is a novelty roughter....so I am not to sure about it.

I would love one if it let me run bit torrent while playing FFXIV and no lags or packet loss...i suffer a 10% packet loss no matter how much i do whenever i BT + download stuff.

Too bad the article didn't say anything about the Router's specs other than it's type and pricing point.

I'm not buying a new router just because it's "FFXIV certified", I want to know just how good it is.

Good Routers are 100+, but this is a novelty roughter....so I am not to sure about it.

There is very little difference in consumer networking equipment. An inexpensive router will pretty much work just as well as the most expensive.

I spent $15 on an old computer as my router/nat gateway.

Ya, if you aren't worried about the speed of the network and just looking for wireless then yes, any cheap one will do.

If you stream or do file transfers, it needs to handle the bandwidth and there is a big difference between a 10/100 and a 10/100/1000 (gigabit).

Hardware wise, if your network doesn't support quality of service (QOS), if multiple of people are on the network all packets = same priority but if you have QOS (esp. with bit torrents, streaming, and gaming at the same time) you can set up priorities. I know this for verbatim fact because we worked our way up the router ladder and learned the lessons the hard way.

So if you stream, d/l, game, etc (basically multitasking), then you need a higher quality router if you want the performance. If you don't give a shit then get the cheaper ones.
