SE said they weren't going to use POL anymore for future game releases. It was really only made as a way to process payments on the PS2 and allow patching.

Well that will suck because I was hoping they'd set up a system similar to Blizzard so I can keep track of all my games. They ought to have a similar system and integrate everything under one account. This will make it so much easier for their PS3/XBox customers as well (or those who own both systems and PC)

The Square Enix account management system that they have in place now acts similar to the Blizzard Battle.net site. Although limited in functionality at the moment. By adding FFXIV as a service to your account, you are adding the game. What you will be able to do once the site is fully functional is another story.

I SO much prefer the fact that the download system is torrenting now. Hopefully we'll be able to use the "workaround" that was discovered in the Beta Phases and use the .torrent files in our own torrent clients of choice.

If we don't like something, collectively, if our hatred for it throbs like an abscess beneath every thread, does that mean that they're doing something right?

I have to agree with you on this one and I have to wonder why it took so long. Blizzard had this torrent download patching from Day 1 and they were merely following other companies that were doing it for years. It is good for the company because it reduces overhead and increases network capacity but right now SE is doing a poor job with very little to no seeding available. I'm suspecting they're seeding files with FilePlanet's servers or something rather than doing it themselves. Anyone can verify for sure and trace the original patch files and locate the seeds? They need to fix this before release because I know they're gonna have a lot of patches and huge ass files in the first 6-10 months of this game's life cycle.
