    DO NOT WANT

Though I think all this regioning BS is to keep EU people from getting NA accounts to pay less monthly fees. that and the whole cheaper FFXI fees too.
I did that for 5 years, it was awesome.

When I bought FFXI there was no EU version. Importation was the only option.

When the Security token came out, it was stated that the token was region free. It was region free, but what they didn't mention was that the SE Account it was linked to would not be region free. So to connect a token to NA FFXI Account, you had to have a NA SE Account.

When FFXIV was announced, SE offered a discount for a FFXI account connected to the same SE Account as your FFXIV. So I therefore have imported FFXIV as well.

None of this I really have any problems with, and none of this I've really had any choice in, since I first imported FFXI in November 2003.

The problem is I have no idea what to do now.
      - If I change my country of residence to Australia, I suspect I'll be locked out of my NA FFXI account, and if so it will be a permanent lockout, as there seems no way to connect a NA FFXI account to a non NA SE Account.
      - If I don't change my country of residence to Australia, I'm going against their terms of use and still risk being locked out of FFXI (although I'm not sure how they're going to do that apart from IP checking/blocking).

Currently I'm planning to not go near my SE account til I have at least some idea of the implications, because as soon as I load it up, I'll have to jump one way or the other. Not trying to avoid costs, not trying to cheat the system, I just want to play the account I've payed for and built up for the last 7 years...

Well, I'm EU playing NA import and I changed my region to EU on the 31st. As of last night, 1st, I could still log in and play FFXI.

SE does have a thing for overly complicated bureaucracy so this doesn't surprise me one bit.

Not like I was interested in XIV mind you. Next year I'm playing The Old Republic instead.
