Yea, this all seems like very short notice to me. Of course, I haven't been in beta, so I don't know if you guys got any kind of a heads-up on the region-locking stuff going down lately.

Are you using the official client to download the patch, its always slow for some reason. Using utorrent is usually alot faster.

You have to update your ATI drivers to the newest. It's an issue with ATI cards, it seems.

I did so. But my x1950 uses 10.2 legacy drivers.

Using my closed beta account gave me this.

Apparently we close beta ppl need codes too.

FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test Postponed
FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test, which is scheduled to begin at 19:00 (PDT) on Aug. 31, 2010, will be postponed due to a confirmation of critical bugs. New schedule will be released at a later date.

Along with the postponement of FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test, the issuing of registration code for FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test will be postponed as well. With the download of client software's installer, it will be suspended at 19:00 (PDT) on Aug. 31, 2010.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.


The FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Test Site can only be accessed by those who have been granted Beta Test accounts.

No, that's for the regional change to the account support. What I'm talking about is their upcoming overhaul in which they are "renovating" SE Member Services and FFXI/FFXIV Member Services. They are tightly integrating the two (right now, you're forced to manually link your accounts) and this may also thwart people who import the game from doing so, since their SE Member accounts are usually tied to their actual residence and therefore nullifies the import option.

I have the latest drivers and it crashed once during the update process. However, this may have to do with Firewall issues but I'm not really certain. In any event, I circumvented the whole issue by using utorrent and doing it the old school way.

On the tester site it said that newly registered users weren't allowed to post in the forums, leaving it for the original closed beta testers. Personally, I think they accidentally deleted all the closed beta accounts and that's the "critical bug." -_-;;

At least you can open up your beta client. I try to and it crashes instantly. ; ;

I run it as admin, and it crashes as soon as it opens.

I got up to 400kbps on uTorrent. Not the best speeds, but better than the 50-100 I was getting.

Hmm... well, I downloaded the open beta client, then started the version update. The client downloaded both files, but when it tried to install them it crashed. Now when I launch the client it tries to download the same two files, but it has a download speed of 0 kps, so it's not actually downloading anything. Anyone know what's up?
