If they make FFXI free to play, it would be nice to go back once in a blue moon with pair with FFXIV. I still want those shoes....so i am registering FFXI for that month for sure.

And I want super powers so I can take over the world but it's just not happening

Assuming the discount applies the same month you link the accounts(unlikely), you're still paying $7.00 for a pair of virtual shoes. I mean, they might be kinda cool, but that still seems prohibitively expensive unless they grant something like a Flee effect every hour.

I don't think it's expensive at all. People would pay $10 to unlock a new hero in League of Legends, buy a virtual pet in WoW or add an in-game T-Shirt for their character (I forgot what game this was but had something to do with Penny Arcade)

It will probably be passive effect which will be active for the duration which you have it equipped. Such an item from early on and without having to kill an NM for ... I think you'd have to have a lot of virtual currency to buy it being an early owner AND translating that out to illegally purchased currency might mean as high as $50.

I will play FFXI... then at the end of the month, i will running around in circle giving out 80 million gils to everyone i come contact with first hand first serve.

Then throw my armor away and give to the poor!

My question is, do I need to have my XI account activated starting this month to get the boots, or can I just activate it next month? My reasoning for this is that SE doesn't get their money until the end of the month. If they haven't started billing my account before I start XIV up, then will it register properly as an active account?

Know what I mean? xD I want these boooots!
