Maybe if you buy both versions but then since you only get them on characters make after you register the code you'll have to skip the 1 week early play time from the collectors edition.
Increased skill progression on a standard edition item sounds a bit too good to be true to me. I wouldn't surprise me if there was some kind of limit on it.
I doubt that, I'm pretty sure you just equip it and you're good to go.
But here's the thing; increased skills are good initially, but in the long run after you've maxed out the Onion Helm will still be relevant. At least that's what I tell myself to feel better about dropping an extra $25...
Just so no one is confused, sometimes you have to spell it out for some people:
There is an in game item code in the Limited Edition for an onion helm
that "quickens recovery following KO". With the standard game, there is an in game item code for a pair of Garlond Goggles:
that "increases the speed of skill progression". The code for these items must FIRST be registered with your Square Enix account and then you can make your character. With the Limited Edition game, you get to play one week earlier than the standard game. So if you register your Onion Helm and then make your character and play for a week, you will NOT be able to use the code for the Garlond Goggles on the character you've been playing with. If you buy the Limited Edition and wait to make your character until the standard game players can play, then you could register both codes and get both items on the character you would make....at least this is the way SE makes it sound.

Where do you register that FF13 code anyway? I did it to get my Beta code and...
MOTHER FUCKER! I think when I rank my last disc clean up it actually deleted my note pad files with my promo codes... @#&*(^*&@#&@*^&* I know I can retrieve it but how? (At least I hope I can, I'm going to be so pissed if I can't... just e-mailed SE Support)
WTF ... my other notepad files are still there, why in the crap were my FF13/14 files wiped... PIECE OF CRAP PC!
ok there there are softwares that recover deleted files (Easy recovery is one) it should find it if its deleted.
Also the code for ff13 gloves is on their member page somewhere, so its not lost. (speaking for NA I dunno about EU) also the email you got with the code in it should still be in your msn (or w/e you use) inbox unless you deleted it.
Don't lose hope just yet.
Personally I have the email, notepad and even a piece of paper in my wallet with the promo code in it lol... /paranoid

Kain (FFIV): I am aware of my actions, but can do nothing about them.
I'm not sure if the Promo Code from the 360 version works, it may only be for people who bought the PS3 version since it's the same code you use to get into the Beta. The Azure Armbands increase the effectiveness of tools (sounds like a crafting boost to me but it could be a general thing given weapons are also technically tools and have been referred to as such; e.g. switch your tool to change class)
