Yeah, I probably won't be playing then. $3 a month extra per character (That isn't a storage slag) -- no thanks. Even at $13 a month, one extra character still puts that $1 above normal MMO pricing. And in those MMOs, I can make 8-ish characters per server with a general cap of 20 to 50 characters per account (depending on the game.)

Not to mention, they still haven't learned their lesson with release dates.

by what I read, you start out with 3 slots at 12.99 and then after those 3 slots, THEN its $3 per extra slot, and you also start out with one free retainer as well. but uummm I dont know how accurate that is, so for now i would still say 1 slot default.

Besides the only real reason to have mutli characters in FFXI was for mules, with inventory being better in this one, plus the retainer, that is not a problem.

Its called not giving them an excuse, Feba. There will come a point in your adult life where this happens, you just don't want to argue anymore and just want someone to shut up about something.

I have mostly pacified them in recent years by giving them books from their favorite conservative or Christian authors, I just give them nothing from Glenn Beck or Pat Robertson because those fuckers are crazy. This is mostly a smokescreen because it assumes I'm interested about always talking politics.

I'm not, in fact, I'm still detoxing myself from overexposure from earlier this year. I want to get down to a Dennis Miller level of thinking on politics.

But it gives them hope that my interests are larger than video games when they're really not. Its kinda like how you always ask the psychology professor lots of questions just to keep him talking and not assigning you homework. You're feeding his ego, making him happy by thinking you care about his world view, but you're really just trying to cut down your workload so you can go party.

No, it's called either being a wimp or being a momma's boy.

If your parents bitching about something gets to the point where you have to change the way you live, there's something wrong.

They did this as well for FFXI for those who remember. The release of the PS2 version was several months later. I'm assuming that releasing the game for a console largely depends on the overall schedule of games being released and it has to go through Sony first. Whereas games being released on PC do not require any sort of schedule other than the internal schedule that the company keeps. Also, patches are a lot easier to release on a PC so they plan on ironing out a lot of kinks in the system before the PS3 version launches and most likely they feel that PC players are more tolerant of downtime than console players.

Was gonna say that's still way better than $12.95 for ONE SLOT and $1.00 extra per.

^. ^ so I suppose I can have a Melee, Magic, and Crafting Character then.

                  2 Things pissing me off the most here;

                  1) Bullshit 6 month delay on PS3 - Just delay the whole thing then SE, good lord XI is still going strong and we haven't even hit 99, which brings me to my next point.

                  2) You are releasing it shortly after the 3rd major update for this year, which coincides with the conclusion of WotG. You're not even giving people like who have pretty well done everything and only care about plot (fuck relics, though I did want to attempt Masamune ) and hanging out with friends absolutely no reason to stick it out to 99. I was kinda hoping to at least get SAM 99 before leaving, but it looks like I'll have just enough time to finish WotG then quit.

Shouldn't even have bought the 1st Abyssea then, damn it. I was hoping XIV would be out around Christmas... not to mention Halo Reach is out Sept 14 so that's also gonna eat at my time and money GRRR!

You're all forgetting that the major issue with the PS2 launch was the stupid HDD that Sony promptly dropped support for not too long after.

They don't have any bullshit blame-it-on-Sony excuse this time around, they're just being asshats. For fuck sake Beta Phase 1 isn't even underway yet and there's a 2nd phase to go as well, that's supposed to support PS3, possibly even on both.

So how the fuck do they explain a 6 month delay? I'm calling shenanigans on SE.

You are overlooking the fact that NONE OF US have access to the data they collected from their beta application survey (The one where you had to specify your system specs as well as stating your preferred testing platform) For all we know, majority of those who responded or applied were in fact PC gamers and not PS3 gamers. Now, you can blame it on the fact that the invitation was pretty much widely circulated amongst PC gamers and their community and not so much visibility was made with console gamers, but I'm sure it received press time from IGN et al so I'm not even sure if console gamers have any excuses about not knowing about the beta program.

Anyway, there's release schedules that many publishers adhere to and I know for a fact that Sony controls this process. Companies can't just "do as they please" because that was part of the licensing requirements (permission to develop and sell games for the PS3 platform) So that's one reason for the difference in release dates. The other reasons I already outlined. Maybe development for Windows is easier and faster for them than PS3, I don't know. Unless someone here can have a candid interview with the project manager over there, we can only speculate.

well PS3 is so hard to develop for that Valve didn't like making games for it, so they don't, until Portal 2 next year.

I still think it's a conspiracy on Sony's part because they don't want FFXIV interfering with DC Universe Online this year.

And yet other devs claim it's actually easier than the 360.

maybe its easier because those devs only worked on learning ps3, so they have more experience with it than xbox360, which is an entirely different thing to develop for.

I guess some people play this game to have as many characters as they possibly can at all times? Pretty stupid, bro.

You can preorder both the regular and CE versions on Amazon.com ... I just received email from Amazon.com about it (because I purchase a lot of SE games apparently >.>) Not sure about the other e-tailers ... might have to ask around.

3 dollars per character makes sense, mew. Character graphics take more memory on servers.

And development costs are higher than they were 8 years ago.
