FFXI is just as bad IMO with that annoying "ding!" when you hit TAB, particularly when I'm NM hunting and scanning an area for mobs...

I like how slash and stab have been dvided, perhaps there will be mobs where slashing is more effective than stabbing with the same weapon. (Yes I am aware of piercing/slashing/blunt damage types but that's generally in reference to entire weapon types/sets)

Not as annoying as "ZWEEEEIIING!!!!" every time you need to make an attack. That Dinging I can handle as you aren't doing it 75% of the time while you are playing. In FFXIV, you will hear it everytime you make an attack.
