being able to attack until running out of stamina. ya that is like chrono cross but generations better.

8 minutes of gameplay! Red Lotus II actually looks like a bigger effect.

What does "generations better" even MEAN?

...taking a stab in the dark here

Basically saying how Crono Cross used a similar system, but it was still rough and new, unpolished and still with it's issues. FFXIV's version, while being similar, is better because the concept had time to age and grow, to have it's kinks worked out and have the concept 'perfected' compared to the older, original concept.

i.e. a Ford Viper GT is 'generations better' then a Ford Model T.

I thought maybe it was a stab at the Baby Boomers. But your version makes sense.

I only vaguely remember the Chrono Cross battle system, but that stamina thing does seem to ring a bell.

Never played CC, but I have played Demon's Souls which, while a more action oriented RPG, also has an endurance bar system. Larger weapons generally require more energy to swing thus you attack slower with them, lighter weapons take less energy so you swing faster etc. In concept, it seems like it can work very well, especially with a controller over a keyboard, so I'm hoping this is the system they stay with and that it really has been 'perfected' enough to be enjoyable.

Though I tell ya what, I'ma miss being able to /afksammich and not miss a thing )=

In chrono cross you had a Stamina value, and you could use Weak, Normal or Strong attacks. The stronger the attack the more stamina it costed, so you could make a decision: 3 weak attack attempts, or one strong attack taking one chance at hitting for high damage?

Ah, now THAT does ring a bell. Well, that's certainly an interesting direction to go.

                  Hence why I referenced it.

lol. Again, I just hope you can still charge attacks. I like the Stamina meter idea, but I also loved the notion of delaying spells and TP moves etc for a bigger effect. For example in the alpha, fire & cure would AoE if you charged them. I like that a lot as it means less macros and adds an extra element of strategy; do you wait for a big finisher, or unleash a flurry of attacks hoping for a quick end?

I... agree with J9. I won't play that game unless I can turn off that action confirm sound while keeping all other sounds intact.

since the battle is faster paced, that means that sound will be heard much more often. there's probably a mute option for all confirmation sound effects. it's possible.

Agreed. That sound is annoying, and don't the devs realize that? Yet they keep the sound in there...

Just for you, Balfree, they will change the noise to a vuvuzela sound.
