If we don't like something, collectively, if our hatred for it throbs like an abscess beneath every thread, does that mean that they're doing something right?

I just have a feeling that this benchmark was coded very poorly.
Could be. I mean, I got a pretty crappy rating, but my Graphics Card was on the list of cards in the beta app form and that's really the only lacking aspect of my PC.
My monitor and CPU are just fine (Quad Core ) etc etc... just kind of a weak graphics card (8600 GT) which I recently found out, thank GOD is not integrated as I'd feared.
Media PC
Windows Vista Ultimate
AMD Athlon dual Core 5050e ~2.6GHz
ATI Radeon HD 3200
2814MB RAM (actually 4GB but 32bit OS and shared with GPU, maybe 64bit OS would help a little)
Score: 288
Load Times: 39717 ms
Laptop
Windows 7 Premium 64bit
Intel Core2 Duo T7250 @ @2.0GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
2048 MB RAM

ps3 has a powerpc processor at 3.2ghz with 8 cores, but only 6 are available for games etc.
and the ps3 gpu is based on the geforce 7 series.
when i ran the benchmark on my comp all 6 cores where used.
so i think, a dual core pc might be just to weak to handle ffxiv decently. and a nvidia gpu might be best for ffxiv, because its already optimized for the ps3 gpu i believe.
so for anyone with only a dual core computer, i suggest to get at least a quadcore cpu.
edit:
here a site i found with a bunch of ffxiv benchmark result.

highest score is around 8k only with a radeon hd5850, but a intel i7 hexacore.
intel is faster then amd cpus, but note that this intel cpu costs around 1000$
onboard graphics are usually pcie. but a 3200 is a very much castrated gpu. just good enough to view 2d content, like websites etc, or very old games. for a radeon 3200 it would make no difference if agp or pcie.

That 8000 benchmark on the low makes me sad. *Now wants a Intel I7 980X.*

I haven't tested mine but I wonder how it would do. I don't often use it, I just built it in Feb so I think it should handle it just fine.
This isn't an e-peen thread. I have found this thread to be very helpful as I have to decide on what to upgrade in order to run this game "decently" ... according to benchmarks posted so far it seems you will need to run this game (bare minimum) at the level of around a Q9300 processor and 260 GTX/ATI 4870 graphics level. This game is indeed beast if you want a true HD quality graphics and to run the game without seeing huge lag spikes ... probably at the i5/i7 processor levels and 275GTX/ATI 5850 levels. Unless they dumb down the game a lot or offer craptastic graphic settings, a lot of people here might have to upgrade their PC if they purchased it more than 2 years ago and paid less than $1,500 for a full desktop system then ... or just play it on their PS3.
I haven't updated my PC in a while and am running Q9400 with an ATI 4670 ... the graphics card is definitely what is holding me back because my CPU is plenty enough for the game. I'm going to seriously think about upgrading to an NV card because (1) PhysX hardcoded and (2) SE seems partial to Nvidia products with their programming (less problems, better performance, etc) Not sure how much I should spend on a card, at bare minimum I'd have to get a 260 or 9800 GX2 ...
