            Re: FFXIV Benchmark

Been looking around at building a new rig for FF14 and FFXI, and was gonna see what some of you here at DiV think of it. Now I am not super tech savvy, so any tips or suggestions would be nice. Here's what I found and liked from iBuypower.com

            OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
            Processor: Intel® Core™ i5 655K Processor (2x 3.20GHz/4MB L3 Cache)
Cooling: Liquid CPU Cooling System w/ 120mm Radiator [SOCKET-1156]
            RAM: 4 GB [2 GB X2] DDR3-1333
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 5450- 1GB
            Motherboard: ASUS P7H55 -- Intel H55 Express Chipset w/ 8-ch HD Audio, Dual-Channel DDR3, Gb LAN,
            S-ATA, USB 2.0, 1x PCI-E 2.0 x16
            PSU: 550 Watt
Primary HDD: 1 TB HARD DRIVE -- 16M Cache, 7200 RPM, 3.0Gb/s - Single Drive
Sound Card: Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio
            Price: $957.00

So thoughts? Was hoping to get a rig that would hit at least 4500 on low/high on 14's bench, or that would last me a little bit.
Thank you very much to Selphiie for this sig!

              Re: FFXIV Benchmark

In theory that should be alright. Thought I'd definitely opt for a 64-bit Windows and get maybe 6-8GB of DDR3 RAM if you can afford it.

Yeah I was thinking of 6-8 GB ram for it, and 64 bit really better?? Now to start saving up and maybe i can buy this rig by the new year or whenever this game releases. lol thanks for the help.

                  Re: FFXIV Benchmark

What the fuck, I downloaded it and extracted the files but it's saying a file is missing... and I got it off SE's site...

EDIT: Okay I hit a few snags but got it all fixed. Running it on Low Res right now, only scored a pathetic 256 on HIGH ....

                  - . - $2000 well spent...

Good thing my pre-order is for the PS3 version. I don't think I'll even break 500 on LOW.

Update: So I went and re-applied for the Beta, trying to switch my preferred platform to PS3 as it's clear that my PC can't even handle the basic settings, and it won't fucking let me because apparently you absolutely have to have a promo code from FF13.

Fuck you up the ass SE, that's ridiculous. Guess I'm SOL for the beta.

I reapplied and I didnt have to enter a promo code from FF13. There was a place to enter it if i had one, but since i didnt, i didnt add one.

                      Re: FFXIV Benchmark

I'll have to try this out when I get home but I get the feeling my PC's are going to laugh at me for trying to run it.

I haven't built one for gaming for a looong time, all I have at the moment is a media pc, a laptop that's a few years old and a desktop that's about 8 years old.

I guess it'll be the PS3 version for me.
